I also have heard many negative things. However, that is what people say about our school district and we adore our kids school in many ways. There are bad schools in every district as well as good ones. So here's my advice this is what we did. Go to the schools check them out yourself. Also you can go on line and look at a schools stats. Look at meap scores, iowa testing and those mat scores. I did that when looking and there were some schools in my district that did horribly bad. The one we chose did outstanding in math and science. Can't go wrong with math and science. Well I hope that helps. Good luck choosing a new school is tough it drove my husband and I batty.

I am not very familiar with the elementary school(s) that your children might attend, but I was a substitute teacher for the WW school district and I subbed for middle school. The part of Canton that is in the WW district sends their kids to Franklin Middle school...FORGET IT! After 2 times, I no longer accepted jobs at that school. Now being a sub, I know that kids act different around a sub than their normal teachers, but these kids were horrible...and not just a couple of kids, at least 50-70% of the classes were just completely disrespectful, obnoxious and had no problem using profanity in front of me. And unfortunately I got no help from the other teachers I spoke with. One of the teachers said, that's just how these kids are.

HOWEVER, Wayne Westland is a district that offers school choice if there are openings in other schools. If you can get in to any of the other middle schools, then its fine. I enjoyed all the other 3 middle schools & John Glen High school. I had some of the same problems at Wayne Memorial high school that I did at Franklin, but not nearly as bad. I went back there several times.

I dont want to be judgmental because I'm sure their are parents who have their children in wayne/westland schools and love it, however for the most part I have heard negative things about it. I have 2 friends who are actually teachers in the school district, and they said if it wasn't for the fact that they have a hard time finding teaching jobs anymore that they would request to be transferred beacuse of various reasons.
Again, I dont want to judge. And heck, I live right next door in garden city and I myself have heard great things about that school system and not so great things as well. But I have heard great things about the Canton school system. I have many girlfriends who send their children their and love it. And my husband is a graduate from Plymouth/canton high school.

hope that helps
