Can't Get Pregnant

I am 43 years old and have been trying for 4 years to get pregnant. Is there any hope for me? Have other moms had success getting pregnant at or after 43?

What can I do next?

Having turned to naturopathic medicine, I've been helped in many ways. You might check with a naturopathic physician or an MD who is proficient in alternative medicine. My son has a doctorate in Oriental Medicine and is helping many more people than his uncles who "practice" traditional medicine. My daughter has a genetic disorder that trad'l medicine couldn't help (they made her worse). Holistic approaches have not only helped her to operate normally, but have actually made her better.

Just received an email today re fertility being helped by acupuncture - good luck:

* Acupuncture may hike odds of pregnancy -- Study: Timing practice before or after embryo transfer boosts conception *

It sounds far-fetched -- sticking needles in women to help them become pregnant -- but a scientific review suggests that acupuncture might improve the odds of conceiving if done right before or after embryos are placed in the womb.

The surprising finding is far from proven, and there are only theories for how and why acupuncture might work. However, some fertility specialists say they are hopeful that this relatively inexpensive and simple treatment might ultimately prove to be a useful add-on to traditional methods.

Hello,
I would agree that you may want to talk to your dr. and possibly see a specialist. There is also hypnosis for infertility. It has had some success with some people, as it allows them to relax, and then nature can take it's course. Get everything checked out though, and you may still have a little one!
Good luck, and God Bless.

Hi A., I think that at this point your best bet would be to go see a fertility doctor because even if you get pregnant, it would be considered high risk. I wish you the best.

Hi A.,

Although I was a little younger, it took me 4 years to have my first, and then 4 years of trying again before my second child.

Sounds like you have gotten some good holistic advice. One other thing you may want to do is have your antioxidant levels checked. I have seen some research that stated low levels can be a contributor to infertility as well as miscarage. So, you may want to start increasing your antioxidants, it's always a good thing to do anyway. If you want to have that checked, let me know where you live and I can suggest someone who can do that for you. It only takes three min. by placing your hand in front of a blue laser light the strength of a laser pointer (no blood or tissue samples). Best of luck and keep enjoying the two beautiful daughters you have!

Hi A.,
I too had difficulty getting pregnant at 42. I tried clomid for several months and artificial insemination when it was determined that my eggs were too old. I also had one failed IVF (bad doctor) with donor eggs (my 23 year old niece). I'm happy to say that our 2nd attempt at IVF, with my niece's eggs again, was a successful pregnancy with healthy boy/girl twins! They're our only children and turned 1 yrs old on 2/12! I credit Dr. Mark Rispler, Manhattan Beach, CA. Very compassionate and knowledgeable. If you're determined to have another baby, the process is very much worth the outcome. The time-frame for us was about two years. Hope this helps some and best of luck.

I agree with the holistic approach. A friend of mine used fertility treatment to conceive with her first baby but it took 5yrs. She wanted another baby but didn't want to take the same approach. I suggested she see my homeopath. Within 6mo she was pregnant! Good luck.
