Can You Use Boy's Pants on a Little Girl?

My first born is a boy, my next is a girl. I used a lot of my son's clothes on my daughter in a way that people still knew she's a girl. For example, I put a pink or flowery, girly girl shirt with blue pants, or pink pants with a more gender neutral shirt. I did not put but one really boyish outfit on her, the one was just way cute and she looked sooo cute in it. But when I did, I put a flowery headband in her hair! NO on would think that she was a boy that way!
As for the neutral clothes, like another woman said, girly them up with ribbon or things like that. Put barrettes in her hair if she has any, or bonnets or headbands. Pink socks help too.

I have six children and believe m ethere is a lot of sharing. I would say if they are a gender neutreal color like denim navy khaki or tan go for it.

The hand me downs should be fine for your little girl for 2, 3, maybe 4 years.

I used to have my daughter wear boys' pants because they were passed down to her, and also later because she was so slim and girls' jeans wouldn't stay up.

My 3 yo daughter strolls about in boys jeans and khaki's on a regular basis. I pick them up mom2mom sales. Occasionally they do fit a bit different, but at this age she doesn't care and neither do I. It's nothing that impedes her movement. As long as she's got a girly top on, she doesn't care what pants she's wearing-for now! LOL

They will fit just fine. The only difference is the direction the shirts and pants button/snap.

You can use your son's pants with your daughter. The cut of the pants is to allow for the diaper only. My daughter looked cute in her brother's old jeans. Congratulations on your baby, S.

I am sure you can share, but from a girl that was 'forced' with the hand-me-down's... as you get older, it does not help when you are teased by other peers in school. So I for one, would not recommend to keep it up after your child is older.
As the girl that was teased for that reason of wearing boy clothing: I was uncomfortable, out-of-place and it really affected my self-esteem as not even my closet friends knew how to be there for me.
If I ever have a second child and it is a girl, you can bet your sweet behind that I will not share the clothing - other than the yellow sleepers. After that, it's all girl clothing for her.

I had a girl first and hardly anything passed down to my boy.. even the "plain" things really had some ruffle or something girly on it..

Whenever I can I buy things that are for both kids.. pajamas.. I try to get red or green so both kids can wear them... not flowers or cars...

Also snow pants and boots.. again plain..black or navy...so they each wear them.

you can sometimes use tee shirts and socks for both kids if you select the right ones.. it is a big savings when you can pass things down.

I am sure everyone else is right, that the pants will fit, but just so you don't think it was a dumb question, I bought a pair of boys 12 mos. pants on sale for my daughter and they NEVER fit her. Even while they were too big, the waist was always too short(not too small, too short). I know MEN'S pants are short waisted compared to women's pants, so you're not crazy for asking the question!

Absoultely!!!! I have some of my husband's old clothes that our daughter wore when she was little. Just be prepared to correct folks when they accuse your daughter of being a boy.

I can't imagine that at such a young age there wil be a difference. There is really not too much shape to them at that point :)

If you want, you could always "girly" them up by adding cute lace, ribbon or patches, too.

Despite wanting to know the gender of our first child - SHE refused to tell us (kept her legs closed). My mom works at a day care and had a family, with a little boy, that gifted us with tons of clothes. I used just about every thing for my daughter, and they all fit. Things that were very boyish I obviously didn't use, but if it was gender neutral - I used it. Everything fit just fine. In all honesty, I don't think there is much of a cut difference in pants until girls start to reach puberty and then they need to accommodate for hips and breasts. Feel free to use your two year old's clothes for a long time to come.

I don't see why not. I wouldn't have a problem putting something blue on a girl either. I would probably not reciprocate with putting something pink on a boy. Unless I was absolutely destitute and it clothed him.

If the pants fit, get more use out of them. No reason why not.

if there like jeans i am not sure about dress pants as long as they look like girl pants i wouldn't worrry about it. I use to on my little ones when they where growing up my two oldest.

There is nothing wrong with doing it nor really any difference in the pants at that age. I had a step daughter that was the same size as my son for many years. Instead of buying her cloths for our house (which we had to if she got her cloths dirty her mother had a fit) I would just put her half brothers cloths on her. I did buy her a few pants that were girl colors but mainly she wore her brothers cloths. They had no problem with it and they looked the same on her that the girls jeans did. In today economy why not cut the coners you can it just frees up that much more money for the things you need.

I think they will fit just fine. My daughter has worn boy clothes several times with no problems!

I've actually bought her things from the girls section at a consignment sale, gotten home and laughed that the tag says it's for boys! lol But I think they fit just the same.
