Prolly?
Probably?

If you are not using birth control and are having sex, you CAN get pregnant at any time. If it was as easy as counting a few days "safe" every month a lot of women out there wouldn't be known as "mom"! Lol

You can get pregnant any day. Not everyone ovulates at exactly day 14. Anytime you have unprotected sex you have to assume that you could get pregnant.

Bless your heart.
Yes dear, if you have had unprotected sex you can get pregnant at any point of the month. .

Mamas, this is why we need to make sure there is sex education in our schools. Some parents, just do not have the information, time or strength to educate their own children. "Abstinence only", does not work. We are dealing with teens that have no idea how their bodies work and just telling them to say no, is not enough.

I recall back when I was in 4th grade they taught us about our bodies in school. And each year after, there was always a bit more information given. By 6th grade we had all been taught exactly how our bodies worked and how to get pregnant and how to avoid getting pregnant.

My mom's first discussion with me about my body was when I was in 3rd grade. We from then on had casual conversations every once in a while. It was not treated as anything embarrassing or shameful. I was told "good boys and girls" have rules and expectations for their own behaviors and bodies and if I ever had a question I could speak with my mom.

No judgments but I would hope you would know as well as we do that:::

ANY Unprotected sex = potential pregnancy.

Unless of course you've had a complete hysterectomy and then if you get pregnant you'll be huge news all over the world!!

If a small human finds its way out of your vagina in about 35 weeks, you prolly got pregnant. You could always take the "wait and see" approach.

If you had unprotected sex at between the start of your last period and the start of the next period, you could get pregnant.

Sex education in schools? Great. One more thing for teachers to do. And one more thing for parents to complain about.

How about we file sex ed under the category of PARENTING and let the teachers handle the academic stuff?

I think Laurie A's mom did it the right way. That is highly reflective in her post. Talk to your kids, parents!

Oh, and to answer your question, yes. You can get pregnant.

ETA: Jaelyn:

I couldn't agree with you more- the biological issues should absolutely be taught in school. And in my district, they begin to introduce these topics in the earlier grade levels.

My point is that parents are going to complain no matter what. Our country as a collective whole will never agree on what/when/how to teach this topic, and as a teacher, I find it frustrating that it can just be shoved off on schools.

I stand by my statement that parents do need to have these discussions with their children, but I am giving you a flower because I respect your opinion and agree with your view as well.

ETA: Jaelyn:

So TRUE! :) Have a great day!

5 days before your period begins 5 days after it ends - doesn't matter you can be very fertile.

A thought to consdier - most of us here are moms (& a few dads) - so we consider ourselves adults. Time to do away with "prolly" - you're a grown up now.

Honey, you can get pregnant at any point during your cycle, including while you're on your period, especially if you don't know when you ovulated.

I can't say anything about this case, but I would recommend getting a period tracker if you have a smartphone or tablet. I downloaded one for free, and it is very convenient. I just have to input when my period starts and ends, and it will track them and tell me when my fertile days are, along with when my next period should start. This thing has been accurate for me to the day for about 3 years now, with the only exceptions being when I started/ended exercise programs or was very stressed out. (Which can throw off your hormones..)

Depending on how late your period is, I would just go ahead and take a test. It is possible to get pregnant any time, because hormones do fluctuate.. And the only way to know your period (and fertile time frame) has shifted is after it has happened... (Which is why the rhythm method is so unreliable.)

Yes, you can. Unless you have been monitoring your fertile symptoms with a specific method (most reliably an ovulation predictor kit), you can't be certain of when you ovulate. Hint: it's rarely actually day 14, as many assume. I conceived my 4th baby on day 20 of my cycle, while my other babies were conceived on days 14, 15 and 16.

I'd head to the Dollar store and pick up a handful of $1 pregnancy tests. They work just as well as the expensive EPT or 1st Response tests.

The rule of thumb is that you can get pregnant ANYtime... so you always have to realize that. Sex creates babies, it's not just for our pleasure, it's mostly for creating children. We, as humans do, found a way to make it a pleasure experience, sort of like over eating or over drinking or doing drugs. A little bit of sex can create a whole new human-- that is the primary reason for it.
So, yes, you CAN get pregnant a week before your period.

I assume you mean "probably 5 days before", and yes, it is possible. If you think you might be late then take a test. If it comes up negative then wait a week and test again.

Your ovulation day is 14 days from the first date of your next period. So you would count back 14 days from the start date of your next period. But your window to get pregnant is really a few days before your ovulation day to a few days after your ovulation day. If you period is for sure to start on a specific day lets say April 22nd, there is no way you can get pregnant on 5 days before its due (April 18th). You would already have ovulated by then. Again, this is based on knowing the exact date of you getting your period.

Example: Start of next period May 16th
Ovulation day is May 3rd
Pregnant time frame would be May 1st through May 5th.
