Camera - Beaver Dam,WI

Hello Mamas~
I am looking to buy a new camera and would love any suggestions. We have had two kodak and have not been very happy. I can't decide if I should go for a real small one or a better overall picture. I am by no means a great photographer but I like good pictures. I would like to find one that has a quick shutter speed (i think that is what it is called). We are looking to spend $300 (less would be wonderful). I know you can't get top of the line for that but I don't need the best.
Thanks

Canon Powershot - love this camera! You can usually get it at walmart and buy a 3 year warranty with it, still around $200-$250.

i got the canon power shot elph when my original camera fell into the bath tub when my son took a tumble. i love it my previous camera was the canon power shot A590 it was fried after going into the full bath tub and i thought it was a goner but i kept it and tried it about 4 months after it happened and it had dried out and worked like new! I have tried Kodak, and Nikon and didn't like them very much. I will only use Canon from now on. The elph is very small so it is easy to stick my pocket and still run around and play with my son.

I have a Canon PowerShot and absolutely LOVE it! I can carry it in my purse or pocket, and it takes great pictures! I've had it for 4 years and is just beginning to show signs of a little wear. When I'm ready to buy a new one, I will definitely be purchasing another Canon PowerShot!

Hi K.,
I had to replace my Nikon after dropping it and breaking the lens. After much research (including reading tons of reviews and asking a pro photographer) I decided on the Canon Power Shot (SD1200 IS ~DIGITAL Elph) and I LOVE it!! Great pics (10.0 megapixels), easy to use, AND it survived a fall on the rocky shore of Lake Superior! You should be able to find one for $199, I got mine on sale at Walmart for $189.99. Good luck and happy picture taking!

check www.cnet.com they have really helpful reviews. The Cannon digital elph and power shot are both great. You are not going to get fast shutter speed for $300. To do that you need to go to a digital SLR and they are more expensive. Good luck!

canon powershots...they are incredible cameras that are easy to use...both in the taking of the pictures and in working with the downloading to computer.

I would recommend one that has a at least 10 megapixels...you will get much better quality pictures and have the option of blowing them up to larger sizes.

I would also recommend waiting to get it. If you wait until Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) there are always a few incredible deals out there. I would avoid Best Buy...that store is nuts on Black Friday...but stores like Staples, Office Depot, Walmart, Target, Etc all tend to run at least one good camera deal. If you can wait a bit then you can score a great camera at a great price.

I highly recommend the Cannon PowerShot Elph.
It takes great pictures, good video (for those impromptu situations) and has special rechargeable batteries - which is important. We have had our camera for over two years now and I am still as happy with it as day one. I'd buy it again tomorrow if I lost it.

We have a Canon Powershot SD1100 IS, and it takes great pictures and great video, and the battery charge lasts a long time, so you aren't charging every day ( which was one of our major complaints with our Kodak we had before). It has a titaneum case, and is nearly indestructible, it seems, my DH closed it in the back hatch of our van, and it didn't even crack anything, there is one small scratch in the case from that, and that is all.

i think it was right around $300.

Like others, I love the Canon Elph line of cameras. My extended family has had about 5 of them and we're all happy with them. They take great pictures and are small enough to slip into your pockets so it can always be ready for a snapshot of your kids.
