Calling All Women with Melasma!

I have an awful large patch on my forehead that has made me cut bangs for the first time since 8th grade. I have tried a few things and even went to the dermotologist that prescribed me cream that costs over $100. I was wondering if anyone else has a big problem with melasma and what they do. I hate it and I feel like it ages me :(

What can I do next?

If there's any way you can afford the $100+ cream (I assume it was TriLuma?), get it. It does really work. My dermotologist gave me a rebate card, and insurance covered part of it, but it still cost me $120. It was worth it. Ask your derm for a tiny sample tube--that much alone could help. Good luck!

I haven't tried the things mentioned on this site yet but intend to start today.... can't hurt. Maybe it is the answer for your problem, too.

Good luck to us both.

I feel your pain! I have a patch on my forehead and a couple of smaller ones on my cheeks under my eyes. The most important thing to do is to make sure you wear sunblock EVERYDAY! The sun only makes it worse. I have found a couple of over the counter products that have helped to fade mine, tho they are not gone yet! The first is Porcelana which is a skin lightening cream. I found it at Wahlgreens I think it was less than $10. It has the hydroquinone that is recommended to fade the spots. This product has a 2% USP of it. I also have used Aveeno positively radiant moisturizer. Between the two products I have seen significant improvement in the appearance of my spots. Good luck!

I have a patch under my eye (came on during pregnancy). My son is 19 months old now and it has almost faded completely. How long have you had your patch - do you think there is a chance for it to fade. I was very diligent about keeping mine covered with sun block (per my dermotoligist) I think this helped it fade as well. My demotologist did offer me a cream as well but I decided to wait to see if it would fade on it's own. I also checked with my spa who said they could do a laser treatment three times (about $100 each) and it would be gone. Good luck! I hope you find a solution that works for you :)

I developed those spots outside my eyes (on my cheek bones) and on my forehead - also referred to ask 'the mask of pregnancy.' I found the secret - microdermabrasion. It is a painless procedure that removes layers of dead skin cells and is performed by an esthetician. I had a treatment once every 6 weeks for a total of 3 or 4 treatments - it started fading immediately and ended up disappearing completely. Granted, it's not a cheap fix (around $100 per session), but it did the trick... and it made my skin glow as well!

Go to this website and read this testimonial. I put the search in as " large patch on forehead" since it did not have Melasma. But it sounds the same to me. If you think this may help, do know that going to a health food store will not get you the quality oils you will need. Only this company, Young Living, has the potency to give medicinal quality. I have learned this through my own experience. So if you want to try Young Living, you have to order online. If you need more info from me, please email me and I can show you how. ____@____.com I hope this helps you. All the best, C. Watts
