Hi Moms! I have a son in Pre-K in an amazing elementary school which is in Spring Branch ISD. I am debating moving to another home, and the school zoned to it is Poe Elementary. I hear it is a nice school and have been on a tour of the facilities. I found it pleasant enough, yet his school at the moment took the cake in my eyes. So I have been trying to find out more about the school and make the right decision concerning my son's education. If there are any of you who have kids that attend Poe Elementary please let me know what you think of the school. Good or bad I will be very grateful to hear your opinions! Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Not a POE Mom...but I'm a POE spouse. My husband and all his siblings went to POE, my sister-in-law taught there and when they closed Will Rogers Elementary (which was a top rated school) my husband's former boss (whose wife was a former HISD teacher) moved their kids to POE by choice. I have heard nothing but great things about the school. If you are in the area anyway, you might check out the Rice School. It's an HISD/Rice project and I have friends who sent their kids there and loved it. It's elementary and junior high...so you get to skip that nasty transition. Good luck!

Hi,
I went to POE and am very familiar with it's education. I loved it there. It was very cultural and diverse and taught me alot. I made great freinds from there. I would definetly go for it.

My son went to Poe starting in K thru 3rd, we LOVED it! We just left because we bought a house in Sugar Land. My son still misses it, and frankly, so do I! The parents are really involved, and the teachers are great! (my opinion!)
I think you will love it!

I am not a POE mom, but I do have a bit you might like to know. I grew up in Spring Branch schools and loved them. I taught in them as well. Which school is your son at? As far as POE goes, when I was doing my teaching classes I had one of them taught by the principal of Poe. I don't know if she is still there, but when I was taking the classes I often thought that if I had to have my child in an HISD school that Poe would be the only one that I would want them at. The principal greatly impressed me and I learned more form her than I can begin to tell you. I know that you will probably learn more of what you want from other mom's but I thought this might help a little.

God Bless!
