So What Happened?

Thanks you everyone for you input. The party was a sucess, I was stressed a few times but it all turned out real nice. I was able to find 2 long red carpets at wal-mart on clearance for 2.00 bucks and that's what we used as the run way. They did eachothers make up and haie, We had all the girls bring there favorite outfit and they walked down the run way. Where they did their pose and I took there picture. Later they made picture frames, They danced, played truth or dare. Well it was dare mostly lol!We had a make your own sundae bar. Then we watched the Devil Wares Prada. It turned out to be a blast. We only had one issue when one of the girls let the hamster out of the cage and it got loose and I had all the girls trying to catch him. ha ha good times! :)

How many girls are going to be there? Have each girl bring some cool outfit, accessories from home without telling the other girls what it is. Go to the fabric store and get a long piece of red fabric, that can be the runway. Have a set up where each girl comes down the runway with whatever fashion they brought and put together. Have someone like your husband or a neighbor be the judges, with score cards and all. Have awards, you can get cool stuff from Oriental Trading or Birthday Express with like little statue awards. Rent a disco type light, dim the lights and do the fashion show with cool music your daughter helps pick out, have each girl write up their own bio and card for their fashion they are presenting.

For a fun game write down on 20 different note cards (or more if you want) pieces of clothes with discriptions. Like on a card say "red velvet mini skirt" on the next card "denim shirt with pearl buttons", "green beaded necklace"...and so on, mix up the cards and then deal out five to each girl. Their mission is to have a piece of paper, markers and so on and design whatever with the cards they were dealt, with the colors and all and share them. It can get funny as if someone gets like "blue jeans" and "polka dot shorts" they have to draw a girl with these both on...make sense?

I am NO Martha Stewart or Rachel Ray, just suggestions, sounds fun!! Have the latest teen fashion mags around too for fun.

Hi N. - My niece just had a slumber party and she chose pink and white as her colors and we made sleep over kits for the girls. It was the party favor that they could use while they were at the party. I made canister that said 'Thank you for helping me celebrate my birthday" in her chosen colors and inside we put white illowcase with marker so they could all sign each others pillowcases, hair glitter, microwave popcorn, and then went to Dollar Tree and bought beauty stuff like lip balm, lotion, hair stuff, etc.

Have them come in dress up clothes and have makeup stations at your house where they can get made up by the moms. Then they can walk the make-believe runway for each other & you can take their pictures. After that make your own sundae bar is always fun. And they could always do a fashion craft project, too.

Hi N.... The best advice I could give would be to turn up the radio, and if you have a hallway carpet rug, use that as a runway for your fashion bugs to walk down. And, when having a sleep over party best to have a limit of 3 girls at a time. My daughter will be 13 in a couple of days, and the rule still applies limit of 3 girls, many more than that and it usually will turn into someone wanting to go home in the middle of the night. For the fashion show the best clothes come from YOUR closet. Or, if the other girls want to bring one outfit from home that is fun too. Also, I found a great website to use for ideas. If you google Birthday ideas, and put in the age of your daughter, they gave me great ideas for this years bash. Good luck...

There is a great website (I believe it is childrensbirthdayideas.com) just google that, and it will come up. It is a free website filled with ideas for every type of party under the sun. You can type in slumber party and you will get tons of ideas. One fun idea would be to have them make their own pizza, and give them each their own mini cake to decorate for dessert, or if you have an outdoor fire pit they could make smores. They could then play some outdoor games like kick the can, maybe a water gun fight, or buy some cheap pillow cases from the dollar store(enough for each girl to have one) and have them decorate them with fabric paints. They could then autograph each other's with permanent markers. Hope this helps! Good Luck

For a cake... Maybe do a rectangle and when in cools, cut out the shape of a dress (simple lines) and frost it in black or red to make it fashionable! (I've done the same type of thing for onsie cakes for baby showers...) Or go get a barbie cake pan and instead of making it barbie- do some really cool dress pattern and color on it.
Don't really know your budget... But my daughter has a onsie that is black and says "This is my little black dress"- it's cute! You could buy plain black T's at a craft store, and get some silver puff paint or paint for stenciling, and write that one all the t-shirts for a gift for the girls!! (I think t's at like Hobby Lobby are only a couple bucks... paint is cheap!)
