We're planning my 11 month old's 1st birthday party. It will be mostly a family party, and we have about 13-14 close family memebers planning to come - older kids and adults. We're going to serve a full lunch, and I'd like to serve a great-tasting, good quality, birthday cake as well(and well-decorated would be a nice bonus.)
Can you recommend someone who you've used before for a great-tasting cake? We'd prefer someone in the Allen/Plano/McKinney area.
There are many who advertise, but I'd love to get a 1st-hand recommendation. Thanks in advance.

I always use Willie Mae's Bakery located in Plano. I grew up eating her delicious cakes and cupcakes. She is truly a legend in Plano.

For my son's 1 yr bday party, we did cupcakes instead of a cake as there were quite a few kids and cupcakes just seemed easier. We had the bakery use whipped cream icing. They were a hit. My son LOVED it and he was able to hold it with his hands and eat it rather than bother with a utencils.

I'm a big fan of A&J Bakery. I love everything I've ever had from them. There is a location in Plano and also one in Dallas.

I know this isn't some fancy bakery but I've always loved the Walmart's Bakery cakes with the whipped icing. The buttercreme icing is so sweet and the whipped is very light and far less sweet.
Hope you find a great cake!

We've used Willie Mae's for years, but they changed owners or something, and it's just not what it used to be.

For my son's 1st birthday, we used Kroger and did a Mickey Mouse cake (but they have tons of themed and non-themed options). The cake was really cute, and everyone commented about how good it tasted. Plus, they did an equally cute "smash" cake for my son--basically a smaller version of the big cake that everyone else had. That way, he had his own cake that was pristine for pictures, and it wasn't just a piece of cake. My email is ____@____.com; send me an email if you want pictures.
