Cable Alternatives
Hi ladies!
When we moved to TX a little over a year ago we didn't have much choice when it came to cable companies. Time Warner was the only carrier offered in our area. I have been unhappy with them for awhile now and want a change. The thing is we get our cable, internet and phone thru them for one price (around $147/month). Of course when we started the plan a year ago we got all three for $99.99. Anyway, my husband wants to switch to satellite especially because they offer the NFL package, but I am worried that we will be spending way more if we switch because not only will we have to switch from cable to satellite but we also have to find a phone company and internet company. Any ideas or advice on what services are better?????

We have been loyal Dish Network (AT&T) fans thru 3 moves in the past 4 years. I've always had excellent TV service. We started with just the regular satellite service but have moved to DVR and HD with them and have been really satisified. We have our phone and DSL internet with them too. I have never been disappointed in our Satellite TV (even in storms too) though I know there are probably cheaper options out there.

We have DirecTV with the football package. Besides football season, our cable bills are around $110 a month, but during football season to pay for the package, our bills are around $170 a month. We also have HBO included in this price. We have phone and internet through ATT and our bills are around $80 a month. I know we could get cable cheaper, but we get a lot more HD channels and we love having the football package. DirecTV is also really good about working deals and correcting billing errors. Truthfully though, if we didn't want the football package, we would probably switch to cable. As for phone/internet, ATT was basically all that was available in our area so we were stuck, but they also have different packages.

I don't have much to suggest. We now have Grande, and they are mediocre. I do want to warn you about Verizon Fios. A lot of people seem to like them, but letely I have run into so many people who have had serious issues with them concerning poor equipment and deceptive and unfair billing practices, including myself. In fact, I just filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against them, only to find out that already have an UNsatisfactory rating with the BBB!

Call AT&T and see if your area gets uverse. In Frisco, I think you can. We saved a fortune here in Allen with Uverse and it is so cool with the tv and all the channels and really really cheap. Can't get it in Plano yet as it is a Verizon territory. You will love it and save a lot of money!!

I have AT&T Uverse and I'm in McKinney. Call and see if you can get it in Frisco now. It's just opening up in all of the areas, one by one.
I have my cell phone, home phone, cable, and internet all through them. We got it because of the NFL channel
I just saw an ad the other day that you can get two free DVR boxes if you sign up right now. I just got one when I signed up.

We've got TWC for all three as well. Luckily, we haven't had any problems & customer service has been great for us. However, when my husband lost his job I looked & looked for a cheaper alternative. Believe me, I TRIED to find something better but just couldn't.

Have you tried AT&T? I have the U-Verse for my internet and TV, and just regular AT&T for my phone as they don't have in-line or call-notes if you use the U-Verse portion for the phone. Not a bad deal either, as this gives me free long distant calls.
