C-section Information

I juat recently found out that I am pregnant with twins. My doctor said there is a 75% chance of C-section. I am scared. I already have 4 daughters, all delivered naturally. I don't know what to expect, before, during or after. Also, any info on twins in general, i.e. tips, tricks, no-no's, anything I should know...would be helpful. Thank you.

I had an unexpected c-section and wish i would have known to not try to be tough and not take the pain med. Take it so that you can get up and walk as soon as possible to get the gas out. Overall i didn't think it was that bad.

Hi. I have twins. They truly are wonderful. The most important thing is to keep them on a schedule. The same schedule is helpful. Also about the c-section. I had one with both of my pregnancies. The first one was worst than my second one. The most important thing with that is to walk!! I know its gonna be painful, I'm not gonna lie. But it helps. With my first they didn't tell me that. And with the twins I had to. And I healed quicker. Good luck.

I'm a new mom and had to have a c-section. I found that the c-section was fine, the hardest part was those first steps you have to take a few days after. I recommend trying to walk as soon as you can and it will get better. Also after they removed my staples I felt allot better when I was walking. 5 days after my c-section I was moving around really good and felt fine. Good Luck on the twins =)

First of all relax. C-sections are not that bad. I have had 3. I have 3 daughters 5, 3, and 5mon. The plus side is you will get an extra day or two in the hospital for rest :) I think the more you move around afterwards the fast you do heal. My first c-section and last two were completely different. My first one they took the catheder out almost immediatly-if they try to do that REFUSE! Which they probably won't but just in case they do its horrible. I wet the bed almost everytime because I could not get out of bed fast enough. They usually take the catheder out the following day and you would be amazed at how well you can move around. It is scary though I really did not want a c-section. But it wasn't that bad. I was awake for 2. My first was emergency. Afterwards just don't sit up very fast. You want to be in a more laying position which really sucks because of visitors and holding the baby or in your case babies. I got sick from being in a more up right position right after the surgery but what I hear that is normal. Do you know what you are having this time? I am preg. with my 4th due in Aug.

Man, Dr's are SO CUT happy and induction happy these days! They don't let women trust their bodies and do the "natural" birthing process! I am not against c-sections or inductions or epidurals, because there is a need for them sometimes, but I would shop around for another OB! Set up apts with them just to see who does and doesn't support vaginal deliveries for twins! I know if you've had the same dr it might be scarry, but if you want to have the birth you want, I think you should shop around or get 2nd opinions before you settle with this Dr.! Remember, this is your body, your babies :) Sorry that is the Doula in me coming out! Please update and let us know what you decide!

GIRLFRIEND....I AM THE QUEEN OF C-SECTIONS! I highly recommend it...I've had 2 of them. OK.. here's what will go down...you get to the hospital, check in, and then the nurse will probably give you something to speed up the contractions, next, if you feel a little nervous about epidurals, or spinal blocks- ask for some demerol...it's the best!..then you'll get into the operating room and that's when they give you a spinal block, which will numb you from the belly down to your feet. ( i must add that the spinal block is like an epidural, except it lasts longer, and it'll have you feeling pretty GOOFY; you'll ask questions or have a tendency to repeat things over and over and not even know it!) Next, the nurse will shave you ..(you won't feel none of this), and the the doctor will give you a bikini line cut, and then you will feel alot of pulling and tugging, but it doesn't hurt; it just feel weird. And a few minutes later your babies are out!...Both of my c-sections took about 30 minutes. then the doctor stitch you up, and send you to your room where you'll probably stay for about 3 days...since c-sections are considered surgery. During those 3 days, they will give you oxycodone for pain..you can take 1 every 4 hours for pain, and trust me, even if you don't think you feel pain, take it anyway. so that's my experience with c-sections, and congratulations on the twins!!!

May I ask why your doctor says you have a 75% chance of c-section? I would encourage you to do your research and contact a doula if you are wanting a natural birth. Just remember that you have rights as a woman to birth your children the way you want and you do not have to listen to everything doctors say. Especially when it comes to c-sections, they are often more concerned with protecting themselves and staying in control than with you or your baby's safety. Just do your research and ask questions!!

Congrats on your expected twins. I have twin 4-year-olds and I delivered them both naturally. I did deliver in the operating room just case the second child flipped after the first came out, but everything went smoothly. Just take it all slowly. I wouldn't be worried about a c-section unless towards the end they are both head up or something. Mine were head up and head down(down being the one that was in place to come out first and a month before my due date the other twin flipped and they both were head down.

Also, a tip that I have is to just treat them like one baby. I got into a routine were they both ate at the same time, etc and it was great to have a schedule like that. It also made it a lot less overwhelming and easier to handle.

Check out this website. I have utilized it since 2003. It's wonderful and not only can you find the information you need, but also people who have either been through it or currently experiencing it. There is a pregnancy area and sub-areas like expecting multiples.

The website is www.fertilethoughts.com

I had two c-sections. The worst part of the whole surgery is the epidural. You will feel a sharp sudden pain that you are told not to move when you feel this. This is worst part of it. During the surgery you will feel a little pressure. Recovering is difficult. It takes six weeks to recover. Probably around 4 weeks you will start to feel better. The first week is the worst. I needed a chair placed in front of the toilet just to hold on to to sit and to lift myself up. You will need help while recovering.

Hi, I am a mother of 3 girls and all were c-section. I had my first one that way because she was breech. And thereafter was choice. But I found out I had to have c-section and was very scared, because I had heard so many bad things. Well when I had it done, I did not even have to take pain medication except maybe a Tylenol the day of. I was also up and walking the same day it was done. It was so easy that I chose to have my other two the same way. Some people that I know that have had c-section talk like it is aweful, but my personal experience was great! I guess it all depends on health and your body, everyone's different. Hope it eases your mind.
