Buying Uniforms

Is there any one place that sells school uniforms cheaper than the rest? I've seen them before in like Bealls Outlet and at Burlington - but never looked at the prices because I had no need to. Now that my son will be in kindergarden this year, he is required to wear uniforms - which I'm all for anyway, I had to wear a uniform when I was growing up. He has to wear polo shirts (Navy, Lt Grey, Lt Yellow). I wanted a heads up before I started buying. Thank you.

Target, Gap, Children's Place, JCPenney's and Walmart have them. I looked at Target and they were the same price as Children's Place. Children's Place is better quality than Target and the skirts are so much cuter. So that is where I plan to buy my daughter's uniforms. The reviews on Target.com say the polo's run small so buy a size up. Bell's has them too but I have not seen the prices. JCP has deals when you buy more than qty 2.

Nanny Jeans has got tons of uniforms at her consignment shoppe for ~1/4 of what you'd pay for retail store prices. A lot of her clothes still have tags. You can give her a call and see if she's got his size: ###-###-####.

If the school colors aren't unusual, then you can get pretty much everything at Walmart or Target for cheaper. Also, if you wait a few weeks after school starts, then those uniforms go on sale. Buy enough to get your child through the week and buy more when the sale starts. Also, you aren't required to get the exact stuff in the uniform section. As long as the pants and shirt are the right color, that's what matters. I never bought my son the uniform shorts because the fabric was too thick and stiff and just not "him" so I bought casual beige and navy bottoms from the regular racks. Much cheaper and more versatile (dress/casual and could be worn for summer too).

Bealls Outlet is good. Goodwill is better. Kids outgrow them so fast, often you can find them used at great prices! That's how my son was outfitted!! Donna
