Buying a Video Monitor Soon, Any Recommendations?
I am in the market to buy a new monitor, and since my 2 year-old will be in his toddler bed soon I was thinking about a Video Monitor. I've been researching all brands, but I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations, good or bad? Thanks in advance!

I have to suggest the Summer video monitor. I got one when my first daughter was a newborn.( she is now 6) It worked for over 5 years. It was the best thing ever... I believe it is worth every penny. Shop around... look on e-bay.
Good luck.

If you want to save about $200.00 go to walmart and purchase a surveillance camera. They are only $40.00, they have night vision, and sound. They hook up to your tv for a monitor and can be easily unplugged when not using. It will save you a ton of $ and do the same job as a "Baby video monitor".

Hi M.,
I have a Graco video monitor and am pretty pleased with it. It is actually our second, as the first one got damaged when my daughter accidentally got hold of it. It has a decent picture, gets very little interference and comes with a rechargable battery. The battery life is pretty decent, and I keep it plugged in at night to keep the charge up.
I also love that it is small and clips to my belt like a cell phone, so I can wear it while I move around the house doing chores.
After the first one broke, I purchased a different brand - MobiCam.
I DO NOT recommend the MobiCam. While the picture quality is a lot better, it gets interference from EVERYTHING! The static is atrocious, and kept me up at night. I kept the MobiCam so that I could use it in other rooms of the house, if I have a need, but it drives me crazy with all the static.
Also, it interferes with my cordless phone, so everytime I am on the phone, the monitor doesn't work.
Also, it takes 3AA batteries and the battery life is less than 24 hours. You literally will always need it to be plugged in or take out lots of stock in Duracell.
Both monitors were pricy - $150-$200, but in my opinion well worth it. You can find the Graco monitor on-line - just Google "Graco Video Monitor"
Good luck!

My recommendation is the same as someone below - buy a security camera. It's got a great picture and sound, and you hook it to your TV. I bought two - they can be set up on the same frequency, so I have the camera in my son's room, and I can see him on either the tv in our living room or in our bedroom. It works great, has a better picture than the video monitors, and is MUCH less expensive! Just make sure you buy one that says it works in the dark!
