Burping Tips Needed
I have a 3 and 1/2 month old son, and everytime I feed him I can not get him to burp. He either falls asleep or he just doesn't burp. I understand he many not have to burp everytime, but he NEVER burps. Then later I'm dealing with him being squirmy and burping later on his own and half is bottle comes up with it. I try waking him up when he falls asleep after a feeding and thats nearly impossible. I try just sitting him up and leaning him on my arm while I pat him in the back, then when my arm is about to fall off, I try putting him on my shoulder. I've also tried putting him on his tummy and he hates that. So basically looking for anyone that may have some burping tips for me, that would be great! Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.
So What Happened?™
Thank you everyone for your reponses, I will try them all. I feel like I have to put my son through gymnastics to get a burp out of him. Poor guy. Have a good Thanksgiving everyone!!!

My son was a tough burper too, but it really hurt his tummy! I tried multiple times to burp him throughout the feeding, and could usually get 1 or 2. I would put him on my knee and tap his back while rotating him and bouncing him... this takes practice, but helps :). I also would put his back on my tummy while he was upwards. I pump his legs up and down and this would let some gas out the "other end". Sometimes I would carry him around laying over my forearm. I also would lay him over my leg and tap his back. Good luck! Oh... mylicon helped relieve his gas too, and it's totally safe. I even asked my naturopathic dr. about it, and he agreed it's ok to use!

I would maybe try burping him in the middle of the feeding. My son hated when we did that but, then you are not distrubing them sleeping! LOL Hopefully, that will help a little with the spit up later on too.

Try burping him after every ounce (if feeding from a bottle) or try burping him after 2 or 3 minutes on the breast. Good luck!

I had such a hard time with this with my first sonthen with my second I read that you have to make sure you just sit him up for 2 mins and it works everytime he needs to burp!! He Usually burps before 2 min. Good luck I know how frusterating this gets!!
