My husband and I are thinking of taking our 2 1/2 yr old son to get a bear made. I want to know what others think of this kids toy shop. Are they worth the money? Do your kids really enjoy them? I don't want to end up spending $50+ and him not play with it.

Thank you to those who answered. We took him in last night and we were the only one's there which was nice. He picked out a monkey and a monkey sound to go in it. We also put his binkie inside (we are trying to wing him of the habit. He was scared of the stuffing machine but had fun picking out the clothes and printing out the birth certificate. It really is a cute store and we ended up spending about $40 which isn't bad. And he did sleep with it and didn't cry for his binkie.

I do think this store is worth the money. I took the girl I nanny (she's 8) and my son (just turned 1) over the summer and even though he didn't pick anything out, I think it's more of the momento and memories. I was actually surprised at how cheap you can make a bear, and then personalize it!

Oh, you should definitely take your son to Build A Bear and build a memory for you both. It's a really fun place and the little touches to detail are precious. It's not expensive (unless you make it expensive) and it doesn't take a lot of time either. My 18 month old granddaughter just made a bear with her mom and dad and then helped make one for her baby sister that is due in April. So, go have some fun and enjoy!

My nephews each got one. The older was 5 or 6, but the younger was about the same age as your son. They both love their bears. They got one outfit for them, and have been given others since then. They seem to hold up well to being played with. The younger nephew sleeps with his bear and it is still in pretty good shape after over a year.

Take your son into build a bear one day and see his reaction. This will probably be a good indicater on if he will play with it or not. My kids were always hard to get out of the store when we were just visiting, so I knew that they would enjoy their toy.
I have done this for both of my boys and they still sleep with the bears today and they are now 5 and 8. Also, I didn't spend a bunch. They both got to pick a $10-15 animal and I let them know that I wasn't buying a bunch of accessories to go with it. My kids were pretty happy just picking out a shirt to go on the bear which is around $4-5. My youngest picked the best sweater the last time we were there and put it on his dog he had made and said that the dog looked like a super hero so he named it "superpuppy". He loves it. I think that I spent about $40-$50 total and that was for 2 animals and a shirt for each.
