Bug Bite?
My daughter has some kind of a bite I would assume on her arm, it is not a bullseye so i am not thinking lyme disease. It has been on her arm for three days now, it itched for teh first day, now she doesnt even know it's there. It is just a red blotch and feels like a mosquito bite as you can feel the lump inside.....any ideas? It's friday night now but I plan on taking her to the ped. Monday if it is still present.

It sounds like a spider bite to me...
One thing on Lyme Disease - the bullseye doesn't have to start out small. It can start out huge, so you don't even notice it's a bulls eye...because it would be a big ring, so you'd have to stand back and really look to see it. My daughter was bit by a tick within a month of moving here, and I made to sure to study up really well! We ended up taking her to the pediatrician with a fever a few days after the bite...but it turned out the fever was from a sore throat. Thank goodness!

it could be a mosquito bite as you mention, but also may be a spider bite, although they tend to itch for more than a few hours, and usually for a day or two. our little guy has a bunch of bites he got in italy a week or two ago (we were all getting them and they appeared to be spider bites), and i noticed this a.m. that he has new bites that are somewhat different in that they are less swollen than the ones he got in italy, and look like mosquito bites. hope this helps in at least some small way. but keep in mind that spider bites stick around for something like a week or more.

Use your common sense. If it looks like a mosquito bite, and she has no other symptoms of illness, it is probably a mosquito bite. Is it getting worse or is it getting better? Has she been acting normally? If she has been acting normally and it is either the same or getting better I wouldn't worry about a small red bump on my child's arm for a few days.

Monica
It sounds like some kind of spider bite? Most can be harmless. Tea tree oil is great for that.
I use it for so many things but it is a natural antiseptic. It has gotten rid of bites and rashes on my son. It also repells bugs.

Just so you know, lyme disease doesn't always have a bullseye rash. Watch for fever and headache.

It may not be a bite, it may be a viral infection manifesting itself as a bump. My daughter had a bite-like thing on her leg, same description, for about a month and it just went away. We took her to the dr to be sure and they felt it was most likely a viral bump, so we watched and waited and it just went away on its own. It didn't bother her at all (but it sure did bother me!). I don't want to diagnose but just give another possibility to think about. Good idea to take her to the dr to put any worries to rest.
