Broken Nose, but I Have No Idea How I Broke It.

No nose problems here, but my sister broke her foot a few years ago, and does not know how. She just couldn't walk very well and went to the dr. Weird things happen! Hope you get better!

I broke my nose 3 times and had to have surgery on it because of it, though I knew every single time I broke it. It probably happened a while back and you didnt realize it.

I was yawning once, and I have TMJ in my jaw. I also was chewing gum at the same time and I should not have been. Anyway, at the climax of my yawn my Jaw dislocated and I could not close my mouth. It was stuck. I was freaked cause I was driving, so I slammed my hand under my chin and it clicked shut but I couldn't get it back open. Had to go to an ER in a strange city with my husband and kids. The nurses kept asking me "Are you in a safe relationship?" as my husband was standing by my side. They even pulled me aside and asked if he had hit me. I was pretty put off but I guess they were just doing their job.

Yep! I went in b/c I woke up and my nose was swollen and couldn't figure out what happened. They asked me all the same questions. Finally, about a day later I remembered my daughter had whipped her head back and hit me when I was reading her a book.

Don't know, but my son lay down h*** o* my face when he was a toddler and the back of his head was as hard as a hammer - HOLY COW! If your face ever made contact with your kid's head, that's probably it.

No, but it took me several days to realize I had broken my thumb. Don't worry about the doctor's asking. They are doing it out of concern, and because sadly there are battered women out there. I would get the question put to me often when I would have big bruises because of sailing and skiing. It's all good. Hope your nose heals well.

I have a deviated septum - it was fixed in 2011 but it appears to be deviating again!!

When I had mine fixed, I had my sinuses blown out as well - I had to sleep sitting up for 2 nights before the packaging was removed from my nose. I could not drink carbonated drinks after the surgery for 48 hours (while the packing was in).

Your nose could've been broken for years. Your doctor has to ask those questions due to domestic violence.

The recovery time was about a week total - you will have to rinse your nose out with the Sinus Rinse as well - I do NOT like the Netti pot so I used the plunger type and you have to be careful as it's going to be sensitive for a few weeks.

If I was told I had broken my nose with zero trauma, I'd be talking to another doctor.

I thought I did when my then 2 year old whipped around while sitting on my lap and clobbered my nose and upper cheek. I had a major black eye for a month.

It doesn't take much of a hit if the hit is at the right angle to break the nose. As Sally R. said she felt like her toddler broke her nose. Perhaps you also received a hit from a little one and don't remember it. Just because mostly such a hit doesn't break the nose, one could.

I'd think about what I was doing around the time your nose started to hurt.

I thought I broke my nose once when I rolled at the wrong time in the middle of the night, just as my husband rolled the other way and I got an elbow to the face! I was lucky, it just bled a little, but it hurt so bad I was sure it was broken.

Do you drink much? Okay kidding!

My daughter has a lot of sinus problems and she has had the surgery numerous times. Her first surgery, they asked her to rest for a week and in 3 days she was up and going again.

At this point, the last surgery I took her to, we checked out of our room on the day of the surgery and walked around Hollywood when she got out of surgery. We drove home, stopped and met up with my cousin, had dinner, and continued driving home.

Oh golly. How DID you break it?

Anyway, I have had sinus surgery, though not for the same reasons.

It's a tough and bloody surgery. I sat up for 3 nights to sleep and oozed blood for at least 2 days. Make sure you tell your surgeon not to make your maxillary sinuses any bigger. If you do, you'll likely have the problem of being "stopped up" as if you have a small cold. It sounds counter intuitive that opening up the maxillary sinuses would do that, but cutting edge sinus surgeons are finding that out. Unfortunately, my surgeon didn't know that - I found it out when I went searching for a reason why my voice was so different. As a singer, it was pretty devastating to me that my singing was SO different. This is how I found this out.

It is better now, and with a voice coach, I've worked past a lot of it, but still, I wish I had known this in the first place. So I'm telling you.

I do wish you luck. I will NEVER have sinus surgery again unless I break my nose! I hope that doesn't happen!!

I broke my nose when my little brother whipped his head back while I was tickling him. It was 10 years later that a doctor said 'you know you broke your nose at some point, don't you?' I was shocked. I'm sure it was from that tickle time because I remember how much it hurt. Sure enough, I have a slight bump on the right side of my nose that I didn't think much about, (already a bit of a natural bump there). It happens!

My husband has a deviated septum. He couldn't tell you how it happened either because it was one of the many blows to the face he has as a child. His is so bad you can visually tell his nose was broken.
