Britax Carseat Woe

I just got the Britax Fronier 85 and it's a wonderful seat. But I'm noticing that the left strap is looser than the right. I've tried tightening and untightening it to see if it just needed to be "reset", but that didn't do anything. The left is much looser than the right and is at a point where my could slip out of it if he wanted to. Which I of course don't want.
Have any of you had this problem? I am of course going to contact Britax, but wanted to check with you first before I either have to wait for an email, or wait on hold. Fun times.
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Yeah, I'm a huge Britax fan and will never put my kids in anything else. Ever since working at Babies R Us I knew that is what I would use. GO BRITAX!!

Thanks Dori! I'll take a look at that!

Hmmm. . . I don't think it's leaning. . . . I'll check that too!

Good thing about the Britax is that it's simple to get the straps off, make sure they're right, and put them back on. I'd do a quick check of the straps from where they connect to the seat in the back. That happened to us and it was super simple to fix. In our case, I think it was from me shoving stuff (like the stroller) behind it and snagging the strap in the process. (DD is RF.)

With my son's britax, I notice that underneath the seat the clip that holds the strap will sometimes get twisted and out of place after I've moved the seat and it makes it impossible to get it adjusted right until I get it straightened out and get the clip seated back in the right place and the strap untwisted.

I would take the seat out and make sure its not twisted underneath. I know our Regent will be looser on one side if its twisted from being moved from car to car.

Is the seat sitting flat or is it leaning to one side at all? My daughter's Roundabout had this problem in one of our cars. The seat was also leaning to one side (older car). Anyway, I tried everything to fix the straps, but nothing worked. When I propped up the one side, however, and fixed the leaning problem, the belts evened out again. Good luck!

If you have a facebook account, look for me on there and join the carseats for littles page. THose women know everything that there is to know about car seats.
The only thing I can figure is that maybe the straps in the back aren't laced correctly on the metal hook that secures the straps to the tightening belt...you know the part on the front between the knees that you pull to tighten and loosen them?

Good luck. HOpefully she's figured it out.

And a little carseat tidbit I just discovered:
The strap covers that don't come with the seats (like the cute animal ones you can get at walmart) void warranties on seats, can interfere with benefits from insurance companies in the case of a crash, cause the chest clip...that goes at armpit/nipple level...to be too low and can cause the straps to not work effectively!!! I had those on all our seats. I snatched them off in a heartbeat!
So, if you have them on the carseat you might want to take them off. Better safe than sorry, right? You can take a sock and cut the toes out and slide them over the straps if it rubs her neck. I did that with my seat:) Kinda ghetto but at least it's safe!! lol

We own 3. Never encountered this problem. Good luck! We LOVE ours.

We own 2 and don't have the problem. Hopefully Britax will give you a solution or let you return it for another one!
