Breech Position

I'm 33 weeks along and at my last visit to my doctor 2 days ago she told me that from my last sonogram which i had done at 6 1/2 mo that the baby is breech but after i had the sonogram done i remember the doctor called me and said that everything was fine and that the placenta moved, because i had placenta previa before, i don't understand why the doctors told me 2 dif things.. so now i have to go for another sonogram for them to see if the baby moved. I just don't understand why they wouldn't tell me something so important like that and i really don't think they could have missed something like that, and i'm also worried if the baby doesn't change position i read that there could be birth defects, i'm just really worried..

What can I do next?

I understand that you are worried! I'm sorry that they are doing this to you this late in your term. When you had the sonogram at 6.5 months, they may have noticed that the baby was in a breach position and not mentioned it because babies move around all the time. Worrying about it at 6.5 months would be unnecessary. Now it's time to check and make sure that the baby is in the correct position. Try not to worry about it too much! The doc's will let you know when and if it is time to worry. Right now just treat it as a precaution.

If the baby is breech it just means that your chances of having a c-section are increase. It depends on the position breech the baby is. If their feet are by their head (folded in half like) then there really isn't to much they can do. But if the baby is head up then can try and "roll" them to a head down position. There are also positions you can lay in to help this along.

I am so sorry that you are really worried... try not to worry because you and the baby do not need the stress. There are several gentle ways to flip a breech baby. The easiest is to us Moxa (a chinese herb that you burn) on a point in your feet. This has a 90% success rate although I have done it with 100% success. There are other techniques which Chiropractors and Midwifes use. I understand you may be worried about them with Placenta Previa. But your first concern is to relax!

My son was transverse Breech..meaning he was long ways in my uterus..He never was upright. He at the very last moment moved. And I gave birth naturally. The worst case is they will give you a c-section.

My baby was breech for almost the entire 9 months and I had a c-section. He is perfectly fine---sometimes the baby just doesn't want to be in the right position. I wouldn't worry.

They can definitely change position right up till the last minute, so don't get too worried over it! My last one (who's a month and a half old now) was breech and flipped herself over at about 36 weeks! :)
