As the others have said, it's possible to relactate! The sooner you start, the better!

A lactation consultant would be incredibly helpful, and the La Leche League is free.

There are a lot of things you can do to start milk coming back in, but the best one is to put the baby to the breast as often as possible. The baby is more effecive than the pump at bringing in milk, though pumping will help as well. The following things are all great for milk production: More Milk Plus supplements (you can get them on amazon), Mother's milk tea, fenugreek supplements, eat oatmeal once a day, drink a beer (brewer's yeast is good for milk supply) and drink lots of water.

Good luck, mama! You can do it!

I have heard of that working. Nurse, see if he accepts, but also pump a lot. The more sucking the more the milk comes in. It is definately worth a try. Call a lactation conultant. If anyone would know the right tricks it would be an LC. Good luck, and I think it great you want to try!!! (By the way, I nursed my first daughter for a long time, but we had a nursing strike around 4 months. My supply went down to almost zilch, and I was able to get it back with an LC's help and some consistent pumping. Not quite the same, but it goes to show how amazing worman's bodies are.)

It is not hard, but it does take more than a few minutes a day. You must be consistent, and withdraw all bottles once you know your milk is back in force. Once your body lactates, your breasts never truly ever dry up - they just don't hold enough to sustain another human, nor enough to leak.

Yes, I think it is possible. Even though the milk seems like its dried up, when the baby sucks on your breast, the milk will come back again. A whole year after I stopped breastfeeding my DD, I noticed that if I pinch or massage my breasts, I still had some milk (it looked just like colostrum--the early breast milk).

Breast feeding took me 2-4 weeks to really get used to it, but it was a very rewarding experience :) Good luck to you!

Yes, it is possible to relactate. You're early on so it might make it easier.
There are some great helpful bits of information and help at Kellymom here:

There is some great info at La Leche League as well here: http://www.llli.org/FAQ/relactation.html
Put your baby to breast as much as possible is the key.
Best of luck! I'm sure youcan do it! :)

Talk to your doctor. Many years ago (21 to be exact!) I went to the doctor with my daughter for her OB appointment. The doctor asked her if she planned to breastfeed. She said no, because she planned to go back to work and grandma, me, was going to be the babysitter and would not be able to breastfeed him. He said that was no problem because he could give me a shot that would cause me to start producing milk and be able to feed him during the day! Of course, we refused. That just didn't seem right on any level! LOL

I know of a mom with a biological 8 year old that was hoping to adopt a baby and was going to try to nurse. She was going to try with just her natural body's reaction and only go to medication if necessary. If she can do it, you can too. Contact a lactation consultant though that can help you through it and can make sure that you succeed. Good luck - you don't regret it!!

Definitely! Call a lactation consultant or La Leche League. They will get you on the right track. The sooner you do it the better. I think its up until 3 months that you can relactate quite successfully. You can do this!!!

Yes, you can and hats off to you for wanting to. It is a great decision. Good luck...it will take some work, but well worth it for your little one. The other women's advice to LLL or review info on kellymom is great.

Give it a try! Get a pump and see if you can get things flowing. I have not nursed in over a year and can still squeeze a drip or two of milk out. A lactation consultant can answer all your questions. Good luck!
