I will be going back to work soon and decided to purchase a pump. But which one? I will be working full-time, and need one that is battery operated. I would also like to be able to plug it in at home and use it for a surplus. Any sugesstions would be great. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Advent makes a really good pump system. Whatever you get, make sure you get one that allows you to hand pump with one hand. That way if you are on your way home in your car, you can discreetly pump. You can also rent them as well if you want to safe some money.

I highly recommend the Medela Pump In Style. I think it is now about $300 but worth every penny if you are going to be pumping a lot. Mine has a battery and you can also plug it in. You can pump both sides at once to maximize your pumping time. Good luck!

Try the Lansinoh dual breast pump - I've been using this pump since I went back to work in October and use it twice a day. I love it and have never had any problems with it! It got much better ratings than any other pump, including the Medela ones on Target's website! I purchased it online for approx. $125 - I hope you get this message before you go out and buy a Medela way too much money!!

Hi K.,

I started by renting one from the hospital. The brand was "Symphony" and it was really great. But they are super expensive to buy. Renting was something like $60/month so after one month, I decided to buy. The lactation specialist recommended Medela Advanced. It was about $300 but well worth the investment, pumping is painless and pretty quick when you get the hang of it.

Good luck:)

ah medela is the best, i think around $240. do not get the manual one. waste of money and totally kills the breastmilk.
go to
www.babiesrus.com
and read people's comments. i think medela was the best when i was looking for one of those.

I used the Ameda Purely Yours. I took it to work and pumped both sides in 20 minutes. It was great. It had a place to store the milk with ice packs. It was quite a few years ago so they have probably updated it but I highly recommend it. Great for work.

I also used the Medela Pump In Style and loved it. It did come with a battery pack and it worked well. I bought mine off of Ebay it was factory sealed so it wasn't used.

I also loved the medula, I think I spelled it wrong my sister rented one years ago from the hospital and that was the brand they used. I would have never survived engorgement with out that pump, I also had a adapter that hooked into the car and at work I shut the door to the office I pumped like 12 ounces in 20 minutes (my son ate alot)It all fit into this little bag that the pump was in that also had a cooler.I also recommend packing it with breastmilk storage bags, lansinoh were my fav, there are very durable and have two ziplocks(walmart)also pack tissues or paper towels sometimes you have to keep wiping the part that goes on the breast to keep it flowing fast(suction), and if there is no sink available where you will be, you can wipe out the parts till you get home to wash them. But once I went back to work I really had to work to keep up my supply because the pump never works as good as the baby.

Defenitely the Medela. I breast fed all 3 of my children. I rented mine and my insurance actually covered the cost, some do and some dont. My sister in law actually bought the Medela it was a step down from the rental one I had, and it wasn't that much money, it was sold at one of the Baby Stores I believe, and you can actually turn around and resell it on ebay if you want, cause the person would only need to buy new accessories. I tried the other brands in the store also, trying to get away with not spending alot of money and wasn't impressed at all, I even tried the manual...I quit that really fast!
