Breast Not Yet Leaking on the 8Th Month of Pregnancy!!!I Want to Breastfeed!

I didn't leak until after baby was born. I've heard of some women who leaked from their breast then went into labor the next day or so. Just buy a pump & milk bags- so when you fill up you can pump and store the milk.

Hon, you don't produce milk until the baby is born and stimulates your breasts by suckling. Some women may leak colostrum before birth, but that is not an indication of your future milk production. Every mother produces milk.
It is wonderful that you want and plan to breastfeed, but I have to say that if you are already getting misinformation on breastfeeding, you probably need a good breastfeeding class, book, la leche league meeting and/or consult with a lactation consultant, because it's misinformation that leads so many women to wean their babies early or think that they can't breastfeed or that their baby isn't getting enough milk.

Your milk comes in after baby is born.

I didn't leak before I gave birth until the third pregnancy. Don't worry. Your milk will come in.

Who told you that your breasts would leak during pregnancy? Mine never did and I had tons of milk and bf for 2 years with both of my girls. BTW, I never leaked while breastfeeding either.

I wouldn't worry yourself... leaking breasts does not mean you aren't making or getting ready to make breastmilk.

The first 2-4 days after the baby is born, let them suckle as often as you can and they wish too... it may seem like they aren't getting anything but that couldn't be farther than the truth. Babies do not require much food the first 3 days - so do not allow the Nurses to bully you into giving formula while in the hospital, because they WILL try to. Think of the large marble or walnut - that is how big the newborn's tummy is for the first week.

I never leaked with either of mine and breastfed both for over a year each. It'll be fine!

I never leaked at all while pregnant. I breastfed for 2 years. As soon as the baby is born you can breastfeed. Your hormones know you just gave birth and you will produce milk just fine. Good luck.

I never leaked, not even once, not even after my milk had come in. I breastfed for 19 months.
For most first time moms milk doesn't come in until 3-5 days post-partum. You will produce colostrum before that for baby to drink.

I think it would be helpful if you joined a breastfeeding group or class - that way you can meet a lactation consultant or LLL leader, build a support system and set yourself up for success.

Many women do not notice milk in their breast until AFTER the baby is born. This is totally normal. Your hormones change after you give birth and then your body kicks into "milk making" mode. My breast never leaked during pregnancy and I had an extremely difficult time trying to express colostrum. As soon as my daughter was born, however, everything worked great, and as it is supposed to - in fact, I wound up with an oversupply of milk for 2 years :)

Please find a La Leche League meeting near you - you will receive a wealth of great information on the subject of breastfeeding from those wonderful women!

No, good grief, I woudl have freaked if my breasts leaked in pregnancy. Plenty of time for that. You're fine. Find a good lactation consultant to help you once your have your child. Good luck.

Your body does not produce milk until after your child is born.
When your baby is born your breast have something in them called colostrum.
It is a yellowish, nutrient rich substance that is your baby's first food.
It is often referred to as "liquid gold" because it is so good/important for your baby.
Within a few days your milk will come in. And it will feel weird. With my first my milk started coming in 24 hours after birth. With my 2nd, I think it was 48-72 hours later. It felt weirder the first time. Like golf balls suddenly started growing in my breast. I freaked out! Thought I was getting an infection!
Lol. Those nurses thought I was a real dummy.

Get yourself connected to a support network.
Your hospital should provide you w/ a lactation consultant.

Not every one leaks, or feels leet down or engorgement, and even if they do those things come and go as the body changes and adjusts. Nurse as often as your baby will the forst few weeks and count the diapers. If the pee is coming out then you know the milk is going in!

Who told you that you would have to "leak" to breastfeed? You don't even need to give birth naturally to trigger your milk. I never leaked before having my son and I had a scheduled c-section. I was able to breastfeed successfully for 2 1/2 years and started as soon as they were able to bring him to me after the surgery. Are you taking any breastfeeding classes or reading any books? Another myth is that you will have issues. I never had any issues at all...it never hurt either.

I am currently breastfeeding my 3rd. I breastfed my first 2 for 15 and 14 months. I have never leaked one drop of milk, ever. Everyone is different. You will be just fine.

I didn't have any leaking until a week after our son was born. I could squeeze my nipples and get a little colostrum out, but it was work to get it. It is the contractions that tell your body to release your milk. So, don't worry.

Everyone has such great responses, I sont know if mine will help any, but mine never leaked during pregnanacy, but after giving birth, they became very full of milk. Plenty of milk. So don't worry yourself too much, your body has lots going on, once the baby is it out, it will kick that milk into production, even if you haven't had any yet. good luck!

I never leaked prior to birth with any of my 4 kids and breastfed them all for at least 1 year. Leaking prior to delivery is actually not very common. You will be fine. Seek out support at the hospital for help with nursing after you have your baby.

Breasts leaking during pregnancy doesn't indicate whether or not you'll be able to breastfeed once the baby is born. Don't worry about it. Be thankful you're not leaking yet. It can ruin your bras and shirts sooner than necessary. ;-)

I have never leaked with any of my three pregnancies and have exclusively nursed all three of mine. It took about two or three days after birth for my milk to come in and I always had plenty after that.

Mine didn't leak either. Best thing I can recommend is to ask your ob/gyn for a referral to a lactation consultant. If you can sit in on a breastfeeding support group, that may be helpful. Breastfeeding is natural, but it's not necessarily easy. Having a support system in place can be wonderful. I had some issues cause I got shingles 3 days after giving birth, but my LC got me back on track and I BF'd till my son was 2.5 :)

I never ever leaked during my pregnancy, only after I gave birth. Don't stress!

mine did not leak until after dd was born, and that was only bc she actually slept 4hrs stright and my boobies were used to releasing at 2-3hrs. Every woman is different, some just produce a crazy amount and others if they are lucky produce enough to feed their lo. Just be prepared for after birth for your tatas to get bigger and fuller to get ready for the feeding of the baby. just be sure to make it very clear to your delivery staff that you want to BF and not to give baby formula. gl

I never leaked when I was pregnant and breastfeed for almost 14 months. Honestly, I didn't really leak when I was nursing either and definately had enough milk (I breastfed on demand and had over 100oz in the freezer). I wouldn't worry about it!

My beasts never leaked pre baby. and I breast fed all of them for a year.

I never leaked milk when pregnant and ended up nursing my son for 19 months.. Your milk will show up when it needs to. Don't worry yourself now. Congrats on your upcoming arrival.

The act of giving birth will trigger the hormones in your body to start making milk. You dont have to worry about it before the birth. Some women have a slight discharge or "leak" of stuff before the baby due to rising hormones but many dont at all. Dont worry about it. Just relax and let it happen the way it is meant to. How exciting,,youre almost there!!

Your breast will not usually leak - probably everybody below me has said the same thing. The act of expelling the placenta is what triggers the body to make prolactin, which will cause your breast to produce colostrum then milk

A lactation consultant said that some women leak and others don't. It all depends on the strength of their nipple muscles.
I occasionally leaked colostrum a bit during the night. My hubby's cousin, though, leaks so much that she thought her milk had actually come in (not possible during pregnancy).
Don't worry. You just have strong nipple muscles that keep it all in! lol

My breasts didn't leak until 3 days AFTER I had the baby. RELAX and enjoy your last month before your bundle of joy arrives.

You WILL be able to breast feed. Your body is not producing milk at this time because there is a child/infant/baby is not stimulating the milk production glands. You DO NOT want to start this until AFTER the baby is born so that your child will get the colostrum that is in that "new" milk...

I didn't leak at all, and I nursed for a year.

I only leaked clear fluid before the birth of my first baby. I never leaked with the next 2 pregnancies. And I successfully breastfed all the babies. I don't know any other mommy's who leaked before birth except me, until I read the answers here.

No problem, I was never leaky and have successfully fed all 3 of mine for at least a year and a half each. Totally NORMAL :)

There is no reason to leak when you are not yet feeding, that does not mean you are not starting to produce. In fact, the first day you should producing mostly colostrum rather than full milk, which is important for proper immunity.

You could start drinking Mother's Milk tea (http://www.traditionalmedicinals.com/mothersmilk/) now to encourage your milk to come in... as the other ladies pointed out, your milk won't come in until after the baby is born.
