Breast Lift

Hello ladies, just wanted to know your thoughts/fellings on breast lift surgery. I just rec'approval from my doctor on this and now i am wondering if this is really the way i should go. The scarring sounds like it is pretty significant. Have any of you gone thru this and do you think implants are a better way to go?

What can I do next?

Do not do implants. I had my breasts reduced/lifted 2.5 years ago, and couldn't be happier. Insist that your surgeon use the newer procedure - if he talks about an 'anchor-like' scar, he's doing the wrong surgery. My scar is simply a two inch line from my nipple down, and I can barely see it now. It was pretty ugly at first, but if you use the surgical scar cream religiously, it'll fade well.
The older procedure, with the anchor-like scar, is awful and uncomfortable, as the scar goes from your nipple down, and then circles around the bottom of your breast. Bye-bye underwire bras - you won't be able to wear those. Plus, you'll get the added bonus of a flappy scar area (referred to as a 'dog-ear') under your arm, which might require further medical procedures to remove.

Best of luck! I love my new chest, and I'm sure you'll love yours too!

I have not had a lift. But I worked for a cosmetic surgeon for years and some people who are lift candidates, would not make good candidates for an augmentation. have you talked with your doctor about the options? There is scarring, but a lot of women I saw have it done, were extremley satisfied with the outcome. It just depends on your skin and scarring and if you are okay with a few scars. If you have a good doc, the scars aren't always that bad. Have you seen any before and afters of his? If you don't mind me asking, who is the doctor? The doctor I used to work for is at Presby Dallas, he was voted the number 1 plastic surgeon in dallas by D magazine this year. I would definitely recommend him. Or atleast getting another consult if you are not sure.

R., I have many surgeries on my breasts......breast cancer twice. All I know is that Bryan Pruitt is the surgeon I would consult. He is across the street from Presbyterian. I have seen lifts that he has done and they are magnificent. If it's not necessary, he doesn't do all that cutting. Great doctor with a fabulous nurse, Carolyn. You can't go wrong with that team!

I have had implants and I love them. My friend had a lift and reduction. She is very happy with both. She said she didn't have any significant scarring. If you would like the name of the doctor I used just let me know. I will definitely have him do mine again when I have them done again. He is so awesome.

R.,
I have a reduction and lift surgery done 2.5 years ago and I hated it. However, it is b/c of the surgeon. He is located in Arlington. Not sure who you are going to but I would say whoever it is, do lots of RESEARCH!!! Ask if he has any patients that would be willing to discuss their experience with you. My lift lasted less than 6 months. My surgeon could have cared less. He got his money and that was all he cared about. Just do your homework and you should be fine. Good luck!

P.S. There is scarring but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be!

I haven't gone through it. But a lady in my bible study works for a cosmetic surgeon. She was explaining the whole process to us. Unfortunately, the pain and recovery time is harder with a lift than it would be for the implants...plus the scarring, moving the areola, etc.
I always said I wanted a lift, but I have changed my mind after seeing it done and hearing stories like her's. I'm just going to live with the after effects of four babies :( I would go for the implants if I ever did anything though.
