Breast Feeding Pillows...

Hi mamas,

Does any one have a recommendation for a great breast feeding pillow? I have a boppy, but I haven't had much success with it...maybe I'm using it incorrectly?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated. :)

What can I do next?

I have a Boppy and a BrestFriend. I use them both and I like them for different reasons. The BrestFriend is nice because goes all the way around and snaps on. It also has a pocket and is raised slightly on the front sides where the baby's head rests. One thing that helps me is to place a pillow behind me to help me sit up straighter. The pillows usually work better like that. Hope this helps!

I used a Boppy pillow and My Breast Friend with my first, with my second, I only used the Boppy and I used it until 2+ years old. I can't imagine you are using yours wrong - whatever is comfortable for you and your baby should work. My Breast Friend is a flatter/firm surface. Of course, any pillows will work, what matters is that you and baby are comfy!

Congrats on your new baby!

I used both the Boppy and BreastFriend. The Boppy tends to have the baby roll too much and the BreastFriend is great when babies are real little. Eventually, at about 3 months, I just used regular pillows to prop up the baby and then switched back and forth.
I know this isn't too helpful- so, is there a lactation specialist close to you that you can visit for pointers? This would probably be your best bet.
Good luck,

Hello there. I used a boppy with my first but changed to a Bosom Baby nursing pillow with my second child. For me it works better and is more comfortable than a boppy but it is expensive with a $60 price tag. The fabrics are soft and it is constructed in more of a "v" shape than a "c" shape so it is not as costricting around your body and gives you more room to relax your elbows. The pillow is thicker than a boppy so your baby is more at breast level. Here is a link to check them out. www.lunalullaby.com/Bosom-Baby-Info

how old/big is your baby? i've found that with many breastfeeding pillows, if your baby is too small, you still need more pillows under to support it.

bottom line, you want the baby supported high enough to be at your nipple level.

I bought a Boppy pillow and was not happy with it. It was uncomfortable for me and my baby seemed to roll off of it. I just used a regular pillow and has lots of success with that. It's a lot cheaper too than the expensive b/f pillows. Congrats on b/f and good luck!

I LOVED loved loved my Boppy pillow! I used it for both my children as babies, and even after my kids outgrew it and finished nursing, I would use it on my lap for when I was reading... it's great for propping up a magazine or book, and for using as a lap table.

Try going to the www.boppy.com website.
They have tips on how to use the Boppy pillow.

Good luck!

There is a product called My Breast(or sometimes Brest) Friend. It's the best thing I've ever gotten as a gift. I registered for the boppy and it just doesn't work well. There is a gap and the baby isn't on it comfortably. This other pillow is designed so that you can actually rest your baby on there while breastfeeding and you clip it on so it's secure, no gaps and is comfortable for both you and the baby. It was also good because I knew the baby was safe. I was always extremely exhaused while breastfeeding and sometimes would drift in and out of sleep, but the baby was always secure and the surface and wouldn't ever possibly roll off rounded areas.

Here's a website that has it...

Hope that helps! Good luck!
