Breast Enlargement During 2Nd Pregnancy? How Big Will They Get?!!

I'm usually a healthy B cup. With my first pregnancy, I grew into a C later in pregnancy and swelled to a heaping D during engorgement, then settled into a moderate D during breastfeeding.
I got pregnant again just 10 months after the birth of my first and quit breastfeeding shortly after I became pregnant. After breastfeeding (in early preg.) I sagged to a moderate B. I am 5 months along and already heaping out of a D cup! My breasts have been tender and sore for months (heard this is more of a 1st tri. thing?). Will they continue to get BIGGER later in pregnancy and then with engorgement, or could I just be growing at a different time? Will this tenderness go away?
Advise from anyone with second pregnancy experience would be much appreciated! What is going on with my body and what size nursing bras should I purchase anyway?

What can I do next?

Well... I feel your pain - :)

I am too a healthy B cup and after my first I was a EE at first, then down to a D until I got pregnant again and quit breastfeeding at 5 months pregnant with #2... I am now nursing my second who is 8 months and was just sized the other day again as a 32EE, but of course they don't make that size so she put me in a 36D. I did have engorgement when my milk came in, just as bad as the first time, I wore a sleeping bra for a few days when I got home from the hospital. I ended up wearing my same nursing bra's as I wore the first time, the ones that weren't totally worn out.. then went and bought new bras after the baby was about a month old.

I wore non-underwire bras most of the time while pregnant and they were the "full figure" style. I suspect if you tried a different D size they might be better fitted for you as your pregnancy progresses. The lady at Macy's told me that the full figure provide better coverage and they make a lot of styles that have good support and no underwires.

Good luck!

Don't buy ANY nursing bras until a few days after you have your baby. Boobs go up and down and you won't get an accurate size if you buy before he or she is born. A stretchy cami or sports bra is your best bet if you want something to hold those nursing pads in place the first couple of days. no underwires!!!

I agree with what the other two moms said. Wait to buy your actual nursing bras until you know for sure what size you'll be; just after the baby's born. Also, I was a B before my kids and returned to the same size after my daughter. With my second, I grew a little more and instead of going back to a B I stayed at a C (and he's almost 7 now). I'm not sure if it's the length of time I nursed him or just because it was the second child or what, but there I've stayed for years now. I'd really try the sport type bras or the tank tops with built in - just make sure you're not using underwire - I wish someone had told me that back then!! Best of luck!

M.-
Before I was pregnant, I was also a ample B...my first pregnancy brought me up to a D cup, where I stayed until about a year after my son was born. With my second pregnancy, my breasts seemed to have a mind of their own. By the end, I couldn't fit into a EE! What I did is purchase nursing camisoles (they are like those tank tops with shelf bras...)in the largest size I could find. Everything stayed where it was supposed to, and I could wander around the house just wearing that if need be, available for milking at any time! They had fold down flaps, so all worked out. I found mine at Target, but there are many other brands available. And don't count on fitting back into your old bras ever again. After nursing the second baby, I am now a permanent DD. Oh well.
