I am due to have a baby in 2 months.I recently discovered a couple of rough dark spots on my nipples kind of scab like.i wondering if this is a normal change or not.I have always been scared of breast cancer. I have a couple of lumpy spots in my breast but a doctor told me that i had fibercystic breast disease which would cause some cysts.Does any one know if the other spots may be a change i have developed from prenancy or if i should have it checked out. Please let me know if oyu have experienced the same or have any advice.I am only 23 but it is still possible to get breast cancer.Any advice?

What can I do next?

Definitely get it checked out. You're going to the doctor every two weeks anyway. :) It's probably nothing, though - fluid starting to leak can cause crusting... when you deliver you will notice LOTS of lumps - those are just swollen milk glands.

Since you're near the end of your pregnancy, you should be seeing your doctor fairly often and that would be a good time to ask him/her to take a look at your breasts. While you're pregnant, it's not just your uterus thats going through changes! Your hair, skin, joints, glands and just about everything else is changing and adapting to the new life you're carrying and preparing to feed the baby after birth. For the next several weeks your mammary glands are preparing for milk production - so there may be major changes. Look for anything bloody, feverish or bruise-like as warnings, but leakage, soreness and lumps are part of the normal preparations. Good luck!

It sounds more like something either related to pregnancy or the FBD or something else entirely. None of the info I looked up on Breast Cancer listed that as a symptom. Keep in mind that there are ALOT of changes going on in your breasts right now because of the hormones of pregnancy. When I was pregnant the first time I had something on one of my nipples and it turned out to be something very minor (so minor I can't even remember now what it was! A plugged pore or something like that.)

You should ask your OB just to make sure, but I would not worry if I were you. Good luck! P.

Since you can only describe them to us, not show them, you probably had better show it to your doctor. Any time you aren't sure, especially if you are pregnant, it's a good idea to at least mention any and all changes.

As your body changes to prepare to have the baby, you will notice some pigmentation changes on your body, including on your nipples. This is normal, but to feel better point it out to your doctor at your next visit.

I had a fibercystic lump once. It was due to my being on the depo shot. Which had to do with hormones. Since you're pregnant, it probably has a lot to do with hormones and the changes your body is going through. Fibercystic lumps don't have anything to do with cancer that I know about so I think you don't have to worry about cancer. Talk to your doctor so he can confirm you have nothing to worry about and for your own piece of mind.

Think having it checked out at your next visit is important, even if nothing you will have piece of mind.

Have it checked. But from what I remember, it is not unusual for your breast to darken during pregnancy.
