Breast Augmentation/Lift - Rec Your Doc!

I don't mean to start a debate about plastic surgery and it's merits/cons. Please just understand that I've NEVER been happy with the way my breasts look- not that they are small really, but the are oddly shaped and have never really looked 'right' to me. Add to that the damaged caused by breastfeeding one, and soon to be two babies, and some days only the thought of plastic surgery on thte other side of this makes life bearable. So please, if you've had a cosmetic breast surgery done, or have a friend who has, and love a doctor's work, please shout it out here! I need to start getting a list together to research, then pick about 3, and go for consults. TIA!

I didn't like Dr. Smart in Frisco. A little too "smart" if you know what I mean.
Dr. Slack in Allen-Awesome.

I love my dr

http://www.drmartinplasticsurgery.com/

He has done breast augmentation on my breasts twice. I had elongated aureolas which he reduced and had saline implants at the same time in 1998. My implants failed after 12 years, so he gave me new silicone implants ($1K more than the saline) this past year. Love them!

The new implants are like gummy bears in the fact they can't leak if they split. It's just like cutting jell-o or a gummy bear. So, they are very safe and they feel like real breasts unlike my saline ones which were a bit more like having overfilled water balloons under my muscle. They looked great, but didn't feel like a real boob. These new ones you would never know. My scars under the boobs are about 1.5 inches long and are nearly invisible. Not like I'm going topless anytime soon anyway. :-P

Tips:
- you want the implant situated under the muscle
- try on many different sizes and take a form fitting tshirt to see what they look like under clothes
- know that once you get them to a certain size, smaller isn't really an option because of the cavity formed by the implant and bigger boobs are harder to fit into clothing. I got my first implants several years before I my daughter. When I got them they were a 36D. After having her, the breast tissue didn't go away... I am now a 36DD which my husband loves, but I sometimes don't. :-P
- the initial recovery takes 2-3 weeks. you have to exercise them into place or they end up under you armpits or too high. you will experience weird pains for as long as a year post surgery that feel like little rubber band pops where your muscles are stretching to accommodate the new weight.

LOL... overflow of info... if you need any more advice on this, send me a note. I do love my implants - especially the new ones!

BTW... it seems a lot of the drs are running $500 off right now. I assume this is the implant company having a sale since a lot of the sites are offering it. So it might be a good time to go in. :-)

I haven't had this done, I've just heard about it. Dr. Jeffrey Caruth of Plano Aesthetics does the Awake Breast Augmentation.

http://planoaesthetics.com/breast-augmentation/

This is a great alternative for those who prefer not to have the effects of general anesthesia. Plus, many women LOVE being able to participate in the sizing during the surgery. You are allowed one guest into the operating room and you get to tell Dr. Caruth if you want them smaller or bigger before he does the closing.

You can join their newsletter for monthly specials.

Good luck!

I had breast augmentation done last April and it is has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. My confidence level has gone way up and I actually for the first time like what I see in the mirror. I am far from perfect but have made huge strides in the way I see myself. I had an amazing doctor, Dr. Michael Thornton, In Mansfield, Tx. He is at the Mansfield Cosmetic surgery center. He had a lot of integrity, made me feel comfortable with my decision, and best of all I felt amazingly comfortable with his abilties and his knowledge. I went from a 36B to a 36 D. The B is not flat by far but they where so droopy from breast feeding and with age.

The first week after surgery is fairly painful but after that first week, you can go on with your normal life. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. The pain that was felt so worth it!!!

Best of luck in your decision but promise you want regret it :)

I have had breast cancer and a mastectomy. My plastic surgeon was and is Joshua Lemmon, MD. with Regional Plastic Surgery Center in Richardson. They are right on the George Bush Turnpike. I just recently completed my reconstruction and he was nothing but kind, caring and very proficient in his performance during this trying time.

Good luck
Chris

I used Dr. Fred Hackney in Dallas and love him and his staff. Breastfeeding ruined my breasts. The looked deflated and were no longer the same size. I did not go crazy, but had implants that look like me.

I had mine done after baby #2. I have always wanted it done and always said after babies I would. I did. And I am trilled to the ends of the earth...I can't recommend a doc for you as you would not be going to Oregon for the proceedure, but you are smart to do your research... Good for you!!!

One thing I would like to mention: you can develope Capsular contracture, where the tissue around the implant will harden. It can be painfull and may require surgery to correct. I only mention this because I had this happen on one side. Mine isn't bad enough for surgery yet, but it does bother me and I am having trouble treating it...Its not something I really knew about or planned for. Another surgery isn't really in the financial works for me at this point....I just thought you got them and then went on your merry way (so to speak)....

Anyway, I don' mean to scare you (its not really scary), just make sure you do exactly what the Dr. Tells you. Take the Vit E suppliments, do your massages, and take care of yourself. You will love it!!!!

Your reasoning is normal and logical and you are going about it the right way. I nursed my son for 11 months and went from a nice B (C when engorged) and ended nursing deflated & hating the way I looked. I consulted with 3 surgeons and chose Dr Paul Pin in Dallas. His office is at Baylor & he performs surgery at Baylor and Doctors Hospital. I chose a full C and he did beautiful work. I look normal again and perfectly proportioned. Total cost was about $6100 and I was back at work within a couple of days. When you discuss your decision with others, make sure
you emphasize that you are doing this for YOU. Best of luck!!
