Brand Name Suggestions for Skinny Kid

I need some suggestions... my daughter is 8 and still only 45 pounds... needless to say she is very thin and petite. I bought her jeans at Target in a 6 slim with adjustable waists but they are all flooders now even though the waist fits (adjusted tightly). She's also worn Old Navy's 7 slim with A/W - these are the ONLY pants that are long enough for her. (She has long coltish legs but no butt or waist!) Does anyone know of any other brands/stores that carry super slim sizes that are long enough for growing girls? I'm getting desperate! Every year it's getting harder and harder to find pants that fit! Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have a very tall, very slim daughter. Gymboree makes some clothes in a "slim" size with an adjustable waist -- these are good. Also, Lands End makes pants in slim, and some you can have hemmed to the length you want, so you can get a smaller size with really long legs in a slim with the adjustable waist which is what works best for us!

We have usually ended up with Gap jeans for the same problem. It's not too difficult to find slims but the problem for us was/is usually the length, they are too long. The Gap jeans we buy in slims and the waiste will adjust smaller. The length seems to be better than other brands.

GYMBOREE. They have a great sale right now, too. Target also carries slim in jeans and khakis. You just have to really look.

Abercrombie skinny jeans in a slim
Limited too/justice skinny jeans in a slim
Gymboree has slim on their website, generally not in stores
Lipstik brand generally runs slim and long - can find at Nordstrom and Von Maur
Little mass brand generally runs slim and long (not the ones with elastic in them though) - can be found at boutiques
Most european/canadian brands run slim and long (ikks, alphabet, mim pi, catimini, pampolina etc.) - can be found at boutiques and some at neiman marcus
Since these are mostly more expensive options, I'd go to the stores or boutiques to try them on, and then get on ebay to find that brand/size for a lot less money!

My 9 year old used to be super skinny, now she has filled out. We bought a lot of Hanna Andersson stuff her for 4-8 year span, like leggings under a little sway-dress. So, if she grew an inch or two, the leggings would still be fine like Capri pants under the dress. The prices are a little on the high side, but the clothes are soft and they last a long time and work again as hand-me-downs for the cousins. I believe the link is www.hannaandersson.com. Unfortunately, there are not many coupon codes that I have found that work for % off, like on most sites. Good luck!

Hi,

I too also have the same problems with my daughters, and I have learned that even some of the slim jeans can be big too. Target, Gap, and Justice's pants/jeans are just too big whether there slim or not. Osh Kosh and The Childrens Place make the cut of there jeans/pants smaller so I have had good luck finding pants there. Another place is Mini Boden, go to www.miniboden.com and get there slim fit jeans they are the best my daughters love them and the fit is awesome. Good luck!

We went through the same thing until we visited the OshKosh store two years ago. I shop there for my 7 yo and 12 yo daughters and 10 yo son. They have narrower pants with side buttons/pull strings for both girls and boys. They were the first pants to stay up, be long enough and they didn't swim in them.

I also passed the information onto a friend with the same problem and they shop there now as well.

I also get Target's adjustable waist pants for one of my girls, and my son. They have the long legs and no stomach. Children's Place is also a good place to get pants. I usually get them when they have their sales. I have gotten Gap jeans for my girls. The skinny one can wear their slim jeans in a 14 as long as the waist is as small as it will go. She still fits in shorts in a size 8.

If they still have them, Walmart carried the Olsen twins line and they were tiny and cute, too. There are others there, too and after looking at the other posters who are citing other specialty brands, I might also mention that the clothes are reasonable priced, too!

Children's Place has adjustable waist and slims. They are a longer length. Also, the Mossimo brand at Target. Justice does not work b/c they have no adjustable waists on their jeans or pants but their sweats have the drawstring that does work.

Check Land's End-especially their website. They have all sorts of sizes. I love shopping there for my girls! I have one slim, and one plus. They have sales all the time. Also, if you go to their store, and they don't have something that is in the catalog on hand, you can order it from the store, and shipping is free. It arrives in 2-3 days. It's wonderful and located off of Butterfield Rd and Highland-by Yorktown Mall.

Try going to Justice. My daughter is 9 has long legs and floats between 7,8, and 10s. I need the length, but the slim waist/butt. I try to get the flair jeans. I have had some luck at Old Navy, but it is hit or miss. Some items at Justice worked, but she does have to wear belts on some pants. I feel your pain. Some of my daughters shirts are fine in the sleeves but short for the length. So I really understand.

I got sick of trying to find pants to fit my now-10-year-old son, who is long and lean, so I started a clothing company called Stringbeans Clothing Co. You can check us out at www.stringbeansclothing.com to see if we have anything for you. We also make a product called "Cufflinx" that iron-on to the hems of pants to make them longer (and cuter, if I do say so myself!)

Stringbeansclothing.com carries pants for tall, slim boys and girls. My friend and I started this company after being unable to find pants that fit our truly slim kids. Our girl fit models are stringbeans - and our pants fit them very well. Sizes 6-14. We also make Cufflinx - a iron on pants lengthener that gives moms the ability to get a little longer wear from pants that still fit their child in the waist. Let us know if you decide to try us on.
