Bra Pads

Mothers, can any of you recommend the best bra pads to use??? My girlfriend is due any day and she is hoping she will be successful at nursing this go around. She leaked alot during her other two pregnancies, so please let me know if any of you know of the BEST bra pads. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have the same problem with leaking. The best bra pads for me are the Medela brand. They seem to work the best.

LANSINOH! These are by far the best pads I have tried. They are descreet and fill out the whole cup. They are absorbant and thin and come individually wrapped.

I also used Lansinoh pads ( though i was never much of a leaker). I hate to use disposable things, but I hated the reusable Gerber pads-- they were SO rough and stiff, even after many washings.

Hi D.,

Contact your local La Leche League Representative at

Hope this helps. D. B.

When I breastfed I had lots of milk and lots of dripping.., I think I could have fed 3 or 4 kids when my milk came in. The bra pads could never keep up so I cut a kotex in half and used that. It worked great, absorbed lots more milk and much much cheaper. That is my thrift suggestion.

My favorite ones were organic cotton and hemp ones from www.EverythingBirth.com
The Lansinoh and Avent ones were really nice too (the washable Avent ones were great) but I liked the hemp ones the best.

Tell her that if she uses re-usable ones, that she should NOT use fabric softener on them as it coats the fabric & keeps them from being absorbant (just like with cloth diapers). She can, however, use white viniger (sp?) which is not only a natural fabric softener but also kills yeast (thrush).

And please tell her that if she runs into ANY problems to call her LLL Leader IMMEDIATELY! Even if it's for a "silly" question or "little" problem!

Congrats to her!

Johnson & Johnson pads are the BEST!! Target, Walmart, and Kmart carry them (Kmart is the most expensive).

My twin sister and I have tried them ALL and won't buy anything else - and we're both on our third children!! They are thin enough, yet they hold a lot of leaking milk. Best of luck to your friend as tries nursing again!

Hi D.,

My best selling nursing pads are the ones from La Leche League. They are contoured to be the shape of your breast, so they don't show through. You can see them here: http://www.mothersboutique.com/llrenupa4ea.html
