BPA Free Bottles - Chula Vista,CA

I need some advice. I am SO FRUSTRATED with this whole BPA in bottles thing. I was so happy with our Avent bottles (I used them on my son as well when he was a baby. He is now 4). After researching about BPA, we tossed all of our bottles and have been trying BPA free ones. I have used the Medela bottles which are okay but the nipples collapse and they don't make large bottles, only up to 5 oz. So I bought some Think Baby bottles online and the nipples are awful. They also collapse and are WAY too fast; my daughter frequently chokes on them. Then I bought some Green to Grow bottles online and again, the nipples collapse and are way too fast. I have spent so many hours researching bottles and reviews and spent WAY too much money for bottles that are sub-par! I am super frustrated and miss our Avent bottles that worked so well. I have tried using the Avent nipples with both Think Baby and Green to Grow bottles but they leak like a faucet. I am at my wits end and wonder if anyone has tried the Born Free bottles. Looks like they are highly recommended but I am leary of buying such expensive bottles after I have invested so much money in ones that don't work well. Has anyone used the Born Free bottles and will they be worth the investment?

What can I do next?

We use the Evenflo bpa free bottles and I think they're great! They sell them at BrU, Target and I've even seen them at Ralphs. I had the same experience with the Think Baby bottles -- even the stage 1 nipples flowed too fast. The nipples on the Evenflo are a little weird (they don't really *collapse*, but they do make a weird noise), but my little one doesn't seem to mind them at all.

Hi M., congrats on your little one! I haven't tried Born Free bottles because of their price. I have found Nuby bottles that are BPA free also. All the reviews complain about the nipples, since some babies don't suck as hard as others. So I just switched out the nipples to Dr Brown's nipples and they work great. My 5 month old uses the stage 2 nipples. The Nuby bottles can be found in store at Babies R Us, so no need to buy them online. They also have the wide neck bottles. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2793365
But just like all the other bottles out there, you need to find out what your baby likes. So maybe try these out and one of the Born Free ones to see what your baby likes before spending a ton on all Born Free. Good Luck!

I bought our Born Free bottles at A Mother's Haven in Encino for $20.99 (they have a web store too at www.amothers-haven.com) and I absolutely LOVE them!

My son was breastfed so I left the stage one nipples on so he wouldn't get lazy about nursing. We had no trouble with the nipples collapsing and I also noticed that he had less trouble with spitting up using the Born Free.

hi M., i am happy to hear that you are using bpa free bottles. i use nurture pure bottles for my baby and yes the nipples collapsed the first 2 time i feed my son with it. But now they are just fine. I got them on nurturepure.com. i also bought extra nipples that were much better then the ones the bottles came with.(they did not collapse) you could try the stage 1. i use stage two for my 10 month old, however..... i put cereal in his bottle so the size of the hole did not matter to me. Hope you find the one that is right for you. Also the dr brown nipples fits it just fine
