Boys Clothes and Shoes to Sell and Other Stuff

I'd be interested in looking at your boy 2T and shoes. What kind of stuff do you have?

Try to find one of the school sales in your area. I just did our local public school in Lisle this past weekend. I had boys clothes 3t-4t, toys and a stoller. Made $175.00 and $75.00 was donated to the school. You do have to mark every item individually, however you drop your stuff off and they run the sale. You have the option to donate any items that didn't sell or come pick them up.

I have done garage sales in the past (only subdivision ones) and with other family members, I've had some good years and bad years. It is much more work/time on your part to do yourself. However, if you want 100% to go in your pocket then that is the way to go.

I will be doing the school sale in the spring again and skipping the subdivison garage sale. I felt it was worth it. Your children do not have to attend the school either to sell. I had to pay $5.00.

I'm a little late as the sale was this weekend, but check into the Babies, Tots N More Consignment sale. It's twice a year--fall & spring--and I have sold a lot of my kiddos things, made a ton of money and bought him some great stuff for CHEAP! http://babiestotsconsignment.com/

take them to once upon a child or other resale stores to get the cash. otherwise you can post on craigslist if you have the time. if you want to donate them, the Community Crisis Center in Elgin is DESPERATE for high chairs, pack-n-plays, etc.

I also recommend Once Upon A Child. (www.ouac.com) They will give cash on the spot (not a ton of $ per item, but it adds up). Check the Website for Chicagoland locations.

Try ebay classified for the bigger things. It's free and listings stay out there for about 3 months, it's local and you are much less likely to get the scammers you see with Craigslist.
Also, check out thredup.com for the clothes. You post what you are willing to swap and can "buy" boxes of clothes that your family may need.

I would recommend that if your things are in good shape, take them to a good children's resale store and see what they would pay you for them. Once Upon A Child has several stores in the city and burbs and are usually very reliable. If you pick up Chicago Parent magazine, there is always a whole page of high-end children's resale ads at the back of the magazine.

Also= Cossit School in LaGrange where we live has a MASSIVE kid's clothing sale in spring and fall. Go to the Cossit School website (district 105) and I am sure you can get contact info for it. They only take items that are in very good shape and the line goes all around the school parking lot.

I just don't think a garage sale is worth the hassle personally, unless you have a couple of houses going in on it! Good luck!

Once Upon A Child only pays you 30% of what they feel they can sell it at. They also only will be willing to go thru your clothes for the current season and will give you 24 hours to come and pick up your items they don't want. I think you are better off getting involved with a church resale and see what you can get there.
