You could always get those little containers of play-doh for the boys, or coloring books and crayons.

I saw some cool swords at Meijer last week. They are made completly out of foam so they can't hurt each other too bad. I don't know how much they are though. Every prince in the stories has a sword, right? And maybe a cape too :)

I did a princess theme party last year and I went to Michaels and bought crowns for the boys and tiaras for the girls. If the parents of the boys don't mind, you could also do foam swords for the boys too. (As long as they're not hitting each other with them :-)
Good luck, princess parties are fun!!

My girlfriend just had her daughters bday party and did the princess thing and for the boys she did pirates. She had blow up swords and hats. They all really loved it. Good luck!

What about a princess & pirate theme? Pirate hats, eye patch, etc. I'm sure can be found at most party stores. Maybe do a easy treasure hunt game for the older kids to find a prize or you could just hide "treasure" like those chocolate gold coins around the house or outside. That would surely keep the older kids busy for awhile. Or maybe a pinata? We've done that a couple times at my son's birthday and it was always a hit (haha).

Good luck! K. :)

Hi A.,

When I threw my daughter one of her 4 princess parties (think you are having problems with one, try 1 a year for 4 years LOL) I got them a wooden treasure box from Michaels. I thought they could put their treasures or money etc in them. I related them to the beginning of Aladin when he found the treasures and the magic lamp and carpet.

Good luck and have fun!

Hi A.! For my daughter's 1st birthday party we had 2 boys invited to the party ages 3 & 4. I made up little gift bags for them with a pakage of stickers (hello, dollar store!) and the mini footballs that are about the size of a softball (the soft Nerf kind). Water guns could get out of hand with all the water shooting around (it may tick some people off). THen there is the whole gun thing too. Since you are going with the princess theme you might want to do something "knight-tish" for the boys. I know Lego makes knight & castle themed toys. Think capesm shields, horses & foam swords (if that is approved by parents). You could even due a pirate thing since that is kind of medieval. Check www.orientaltrading.com for themed goodie bags. They have so much stuff & are so reasonable. Good Luck & have fun! Take lots of pictures & don't stress. Let your girl have a great time & you remember to do the same! Take care, C.
