Boy or Girl? - Kansas City,MO

With my first pregnancy (girl!) I was so sick even before I found out I was pregnant, so it lasted from about 4weeks to 11 weeks, 24/7, and was so severe that some days i could barely move. My breasts were never sore, never tired, I did get dizzy a lot though. I couldn't go to the store by myself because I would pass out whenever I had to stand still for more than about 2 minutes. This time though, I didn't get sick until about 6 weeks and stopped at 8, and was more unpleasant than unbearable. My nipples are a little sore this time though, and I do not get dizzy.

I know that there is no way to tell until the ultrasound, but I'm just curious if people had pregnancies that were different and ended up having the same gender as before. Or if they were so different and had different genders. Again, I know it's not scientific, it's just fun to think about. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I'm in my second pregnancy right now and it's been pretty different from the first, and waalaa, the sex of the baby is different. With my son I had a lot of nausea for the whole first trimester. With my in-utero daughter, I was worried I miscarried because I felt so good. She also requires that I stay very hydrated or I'll feel super sick. He never cared about water, just food. The ultrasound tech asked if we had any hunches and we did think it might be a girl since the pregnancy has been so different; 30 minutes later we found out we were right :P

I think there's a difference between the first and second because you're too busy childrearing the first that you don't have as much time to feel sick. Kind of like how I always feel worse the more I lay around and baby myself :P

I didn't have differences that early on -- my differences were primarily in movement. My boy never stopped moving, whereas my girl was so quiet I worried a ton and rented a doppler to hear her heart beat whenever I wanted! Now at 7 and 10, they are true to their fetal personalities!

ETA: That being said, I knew even before I saw the doctor both times that the first was a girl and the second a boy. No particular reason -- just a feeling, and I was right both times. But even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Every woman and every pregnancy is different! My oldest son was a wonderful pregnancy. I was 20 when I got pregnant, young and full of energy. I just turned 29 when I got pregnant with my 2nd son and that was a rough pregnancy. I was 39 when I got pregnant with the triplets and that was pure hell! I lost weight, couldn't eat or drink, had to be pushed in a wheelchair once a week to my doc appointments, horrible heartburn and more. There are other triplet moms who had wonderful pregnancies. So for me, the older I got the worse my pregnancies were, but that's just me. It had nothing to do with the sex of the babies. How can a woman explain having a good or bad pregnancy with triplets or any multiple pregnancy when the sexes are mixed! LOL

I know it drives us nuts not knowing the sex, especially when we're leaning on one sex or another. Have fun with it and try not to go too crazy wondering, lol.

I don't think you can tell the sex at all until the ultrasound. I think that all pregnancies are just different.

My Mom has had 6 kids, 4 boys and 2 girls. She said she could always tell what it was before she was told. She said she was only ever sick with us girls, and not with the boys.

It's possible for some people to have distinct differences like that. Maybe you are one of them.

So I say it's a boy this time! Either way congrats!!

I had 4 boys and 4 girls and nothing to pin point the sex at all. Each was different, I was sick with all but different as in some I threw up, some just nauseated, some sick in the day and morning, some at night, and on and on. Some one food helped and some nothing helped. I had doctors predict the sex and all were wrong and I 'knew' somehow but not by sickness, just a feeling. Of course after 2 boys, 2 girls, 2 boys I caught on to the last 2 pretty quickly. They were 2 girls. So I wouldn't go by sickness, whether your belly sticks out or back or whatever, or if it's carried low or high, etc. It's just fun to guess but certainly nothing to believe in factually.

I had three boys and a girl. My pregnancies were all so different. I was not sick at all with the first....learned how to make myself puke with the second so I could just have 5 minutes without nausea........third was somewhere in between. The only thing consistent with my boys and not my girls was weight gain. I gained about 30 pounds with my boys and about 60 with my girl. Weird....

I've read that morning sickness (aka all day and all night sickness) should really be called estrogen poisoning. Your body will produce more estrogen when you're pregnant no matter what, but the estrogen level is higher with a girl than a boy. So, girl-nausea is one of those old wives tales with some truth behind it.

That said, my SIL was so nauseous with both her pregnancies that she had to wear sea bands constantly, and get weekly injections, and she still threw up several times a day 'til the end. And she's got two large, healthy, very active boys. So there are clearly exceptions with this.

I was only sick sometimes with my two girls but was violently constantly ill with my two boys. That was my experience, but I've heard others that had vastly different pregnancies and same gender babies.

I had 2 girls. My first pregnancy I had morning sickness for almost 12 weeks. With my second other than feeling nauseated the first couple weeks I never got sick.
