Bottles for Newborn

We used Dr. Browns and it helped with the colic somewhat. I loved using the bottles.

I use Dr. Brown and love it. Agree with another post that they are a pain to clean but worth it than having a fussy baby! I use lansinoh freezer bags as well as they are double sealed and have not had a problem with them so far.

I have always used Playtex with Dropins...with the Natural latch latex nipples (this is important if breastfeeding because the latex stretches more like a breast...sillicone nipples are hard!). You can squeeze all the air out before giving it to them. Then you just throw the liners away...don't have to do anything but rinse the holder and wash the nipple. It is easy to warm BM in them since the milk is in a liner, it warms faster in warm water. No BPA worries either.

If you use freezer bags, just freeze in small amounts. Then leave the milk in the fridge to thaw. Some bags you can just put in the playtex holders, others you may have to pour it into the drop in liner. Playtex also makes a pump adapter that you can use to pump directly into the drop in liners..then there is a little cap you put on it and just flip it over and put it in the holder and pop on the nipple.

My mother used these same bottles with me when I was a baby, just now the liners are nicer and the nipples are more natural shaped. They have stood the test of time.

I just found these cool things for freezing milk...I am due this month so I have been looking into "new and improved" ways to do things. You pour the milk into the trays just like an ice cube tray and it makes milk "sticks" in one ounce increments that will fit in any bottle. Once it is frozen, you can move it to a freezer bag. No waste, no muss, no fuss.

My friend had a certain bottle that was to prevent collic and made less bubbles when you shook the bottle. I know she got them at walmart. I cant remember the brand name. But look at walmart.

I used Dr. Brown's for my daughter when she was colicky and that saved us from insanity! I can honestly say if we ever have another child, I will not even attempt any other bottles. They aren't hard to clean at all either. There are 2 more pieces than a regular bottle, but it is still a no brainer. I highly recommend them! Dr. Brown's are also getting more popular as more moms find them to be highly effective, therefore they are starting to sell them everywhere and not just at Babies R Us. Target has them and so do the Super WalMart's.

Our first son was colicky, too. We tried Advent - no. Ventaire - worked for a little bit but then they started to stop flowing correctly and our son had a FIT waiting for it. Lol. Then, we switched to Dr. Browns and were VERY happy. They are a little bit of a pain to clean, but it was worth it. We are using them for our now 6 month.

Also, Dr. Browns is coming out with (or may have already released) a BPA free version this Spring.

We bought our bottles at BRU and Target, also.

Congrats on #2. Yours will be about the same age apart as ours are (2 years and 2 months, here) and it is SO much fun watching them interact!
