Bored Children

My two boys are not in any kind of daycare, school, or church. We are pretty new to Tulsa and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any kind of classes or events. My boys are 3 and almost 5.

What can I do next?

Both Malls have indoor playgrounds that you can take the kiddies too. Whiteside Community center (and probably others)has a bikes and balls one morning a week. I try to host a playdate at my house once a month.

The only Mops program in this area is in Jenks or far east Tulsa. You can look them up on the internet.

There used to be a yahoo group that met regularly. I run one that has kinda died but I'm looking to get back to getting out at least every other week now. look for Metro Tulsa Moms and see if they are more active.

Hi! You should check out the City Parks fun guide. They have tons of classes from sports to arts and crafts. They are fairly inexpensive.

My kids love Playtime Plus at 51st and Memorial. They also really love going to church at Church on the Move at 129th and North of Hwy 44. Staying at home due to the ice is really driving them crazy so I have let them out to "ice skate" and they have a ball doing that. I don't live in the best neighborhood so they don't go out that much to play, so the day care and school are the only real exercise they get.

We love going to the Thornton YMCA. The Kid's Zone is just what I needed when my three-year-old was ready to start playing with other kids. He went there to play while I exercised. I got a break and he got exhausted playing in the climbing, sliding, jumping thing. Miss Jodi watches the children very well and does not put up with any nonsense. They sometimes have structured activities in Kid's Zone. With a family membership, Kid's Zone in included in your monthly membership fee. (They also have sliding scale fees if you need.) We have also done swimming lessons in the indoor pool and sports camps. They have some programs for the younger kids-Tumbling Teddies is one. There are other YMCA's in the Tulsa area.

Another idea is the Little Gym at 81st and Sheridan.

Check out "Tulsa Kids" magazine, it's free. You can find it at many local resturants and businesses. You can also go to their website tulsakids.com. They have a calendar of events for each month. Plus they will list all the "MOMS Clubs" which is a support for stay-at-home moms. They do playgroups, craft days, field trips & monthly moms-night-out. You can find the one closest to where you live. So not only will your kids meet and get to play with other kids you can meet and get to have adult interaction also. I'd like to also invite you and your family to our church. It is The Church at Battlecreek. It is located off 145th St. and Hwy 51 (BA Expressway)n Broken Arrow. They have the best kids programs. my kids love it. Their services on Sunday are at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Except this morning there is only an 11 a.m. service because of the weather. Hope this helps and if you are interested in visiting our church just e-mail me and I'll arrange to meet you there. Stay warm and safe in this weather.

Hi S.! You might want to check out the Tulsa Parks and Recreation website, or stop by and pickup a flyer on the classes and programs they have available. My son has participated in the soccer program and it was really fun! Good luck!
