Books About Moms

I'm interested in fiction, and I would like a list of books in which the mother AS A MOTHER is the primary subject. That is, the point of view is the mother's point of view. In most fiction today, the point of view is the child's point of view, and sometimes the child obsesses about his or her relationship with his or her mother. I am interested in books in which the mother is concerned with her children. I am not particularly interested in books in which the mother examines her relationship with her own mother or her own father. Nor am I interested in fiction in which the mother seeks a new love interest or regains an old love interest. In other words, I am not interested in books that examine the mother as a seeker after romantic love or after a sexual relationship. I am instead interested in fiction that examines the mother as the parent of children.

I love Ayelet Waldman's books. She has a bunch that are part of detective series and two that are more serious topics. All fiction. She's married to Michael Chabon. Her detective books (mommy mysteries) are well written, smart, easy to read, hilarious and right on about being a mom to young kids.

i don't read much fiction but i wanted to tell you of a couple of nonfiction books i recently read that you may enjoy.
Maria Augusta Trapp wrote two books MARIA that talks about life after the sound of music and the other is THE STORY OF THE TRAPP FAMILY SINGERS it is the story that inspired the sound of music but it is nothing like the movie and i'm sure you will get alot out of it. Enjoy!

Try books by Jodi Piccoult-she is so aware of what Mom's are dealing with as we raise children in these scary times: Nineteen Minutes, My Sister's Keeper, and the Tenth Circle are ones I have read. I would start with the Tenth Circle. I got them all at Target.

Another is comeback a mother and daughter's journey by Claire and Mia Fontaine. After reading it, I would say it is much more about the mother's dealing with the parenting issues. I also bought that at Target.

I highly recommend "It Hit Me Like a Ton of Bricks" by Cathy Burns. Although it is not fiction , it does examine the relationship of a mother and her child, as well as the mother's relationship with her own mom. It is difficult to "mother" without taking your own upbring into account. The book is funny and touching. A great read! Enjoy.

the best books i can recomend are jennifer weiner-they arent all about moms but some of them are. good in bed was amazing, little earthquakes is a book all about 3 moms to be their journeys in to motherhood, the conflicts they face their memories of their past selves like college years not crazy past lives in the 1700's. she has several books out but these are my faves-I even lent them to my mother-in-law their that good.

ps they can get a little steamy in spots-but the laughs are more common. let me know if you've read them i can try to think of some other titles.
