Blogging- Some Advice Please?

I blog at www.junecleavernirvana.blogspot.com. I started a few months ago and have had good results increasing my traffic by visiting other people's blogs and leaving comments. I also put the link at the bottom of all my outgoing emails. My friends and family all know about the blog. I have an advertisement on my blog for my CafePress store. I also will write a post about any new merchandise with links. I know of several successful blog/craft combinations. I use blogspot as well. I think it is pretty simple. I use one of the templates and paid someone $20 to make a header for me so my space looks unique. I can give you the information of a few people who can customize your site for next to no money. Blogspot has a built in way for people to subscribe through the little phrase that has (atom) below each post. But I use a www.google.com/reader to subscribe to blogs which makes it even simpler. Alot of bloggers use feedburner.com to distribute their feed, but I haven't figured out all the benefits of that.

I have my own business too, I don't advertise on others blog sites. But I do ask friends to list me in their links section. That seems to help. I do graphic design and if you need a banner done, I can do something for you for a good deal. Other than that keep in mind that a business takes time to grow. Don't put too much of your business on your site if you don't want that to be the focus or people won't read it very much. That is what I have found to be helpful. Good luck in your new business.

Remember that whatever you put on your blog will be for the world to see in years to come. It can affect current & future employment for you, your spouse, family members, who knows...even your kids. there are ways of submitting your blog page to search engines. here is a link to google: http://www.google.com/addurl/

I would also go to google and enter the following search:
submit page to search engines

and you'll get a lot of links you can check/use. read the fineprint so you don't end up w/ tons of junkmail. in fact, I would create a separate e-mail account to use when submitting your blogspot to the search engines. You could probably try a free service first. Good luck! ~C~

blogs are great but have you ever heard of a site called etsy? (etsy.com) Its a place to sell all your homemade goods. You sign up get a shop and start selling...there is a very small fee but its worth it! I make soap and that little shop has tripled my business. You should go check it out. OH and you can advertise your blogspot in your shop announcements. If go get on there go check out seller anniepoo....thats me! Everyone on there is super nice and helpful and supportive...I just can't say enough about it. Hope you find this helpful
