Bleeding/spotting During First Weeks of Pregnancy

ok I recently posted a request my period is as of now over a week late, I took a million pregnancy tests and all were negative, I then went to my doctor for a serum test and I should get the results today. My husband and I believe very much that I am pregnant, I just know my body and the symptoms I have already been pregnant before. well this morning I woke up because I had to pee very bad and when I went to wipe I saw almost like reddish blood, but not alot just a little and only for like a second then the blood turned brownish and there is very much less it's not like a period it's more brown spotting. I have had miscarriages and I know blood is accompanied by severe cramping and I have nothing other then the initial discomfort in my belly that I've had for over a week now also my belly is still firm or hardened which if I ever miscarried it would get mushy. really all I feel out of the ordinary is a little gassy. what the heck is going on here!!!! someone please tell me this is normal and that I'm not miscarrying or anything.

What can I do next?

I urge you to check with you doctor on this, but usually brownish blood is old blood. I had this problem as well at 11 weeks.

Hi S.! Like several of the others that have responded, I too had negative pregnancy tests with BOTH of my pregnancies. I guess I just like to test too early. :) I also had implantation spotting with my son who's now 18mo. It was just a tiny bit and it stopped that morning. The next morning I took another test and it was positive.
My best advice is to listen to your body, and talk to your dr. if you're really worried. :)

I am in the same boat as you. I am nearly two weeks late, gassy, and every test I take comes up negative. When I was pregnant with my son, I did spot and it started out red and went brown, but it only lasted for the morning. Is yours lasting longer? If it is and you do believe you are pregnant, i'd call my doctor and ask her what she thinks.

About Me:
I am 24, a sahm, and have one son who is 2, and a loving husband of nearly 5 years.

well i cant tell you what is going on with you exactly, but i will tell you it sounds like my first week of my first pregnacy. I had taken pregnancy tests and they all said no i wasnt pregnant, then i thought i was starting my peroid, and it was just a little red and then turned brown. I then went to my doctors and had another test and it came up positive. I also had a peroid with my second child. Hope this puts your mind at ease, and all is well

I know you've gotten a lot of advice already and it sounds like the ladies know what they are talking about. So I just have some quick advice as a Doctor's daughter.

This is what doctors and nurses are for. If you have a questions call your doctors office and ask. They may put you on hold a couple of times but they will try and help. They went into the medicine to help people. And if they aren't willing to answer your questions find another doctor. Don't ever feel like a question is too small or simple to get an answer from an expert.

Best wishes. I hope congratulations are in order.

Sam,

I recently miscarried. All of my home pregnancy tests were negative. The test at the Doctors, urine was a faint positive and the blood test showed HcG levels at 41. I had spotting for 5 days, first brown then red. Never heavy enough to need a pad. Very little cramping. In fact, I did not know I had miscarried or was pregnant until after the bleeding stopped at I saw my Dr. The pregancy test was positive because the hormones were still in my system.

I hope you have not miscarried. You could also have a small cyst (normal) that rubtured. It is good that you went to see your doctor.

I'm not a doctor, so I don't really know. But, I've heard it is common to have spotting in the first couple months. I had a friend who had seemingly normal periods up to six months of her pregnancy. Good luck, I hope all turns out well.
