is bleeding normal during pregnancy? I started bleeding monday morning that seems to come and go.. first it was bright red then went pink to brown.. now its back again to red/pink. I went to the dr. on monday and had an ultrasound. baby looks fine and no signs of why im bleeding. tues am I saw my dr. and she said it was looking like old blood. last night it started bleeding again. I called the nurse and she told me to monitor it til lunch today and if I was still bleeding to call the dr. I did and she said to moitor the bleeding and my cramping.. if it gets heavier or painful to call them back... they didn't seem worried because the baby looked fine. im worried and not sure what to think. is bleeding normal during pregnancy? its not heavy I can wear a panty liner and be ok..

What can I do next?

I had the same thing happening and am now 14 wks. It is so difficult and felt like I lived at my OB's office. Congrats, been positive and try to stay as stress free as possible.

I bled for three months with two of my four kids.. Everyone healthy. It happens more then you think. Try not to worry but I know it is hard not too.

That sounds like you might have something called a subchorionic hematoma. I had a large one with my last pregnancy and had a huge gush of blood at 12 weeks. I was sure I was losing the baby but she was totally fine! There is a lot of conflicting info out there and depending on how up to date your obstetrician is, they can make it sound really bad or really not such a big deal. Some doctors will prescribe partial bed rest and others say it doesn't matter. I just listened to my body and if I was crampy, I took that as a sign that I needed to rest. The best thing you can do is make sure you have a doctor you can trust, that will take the time to explain things to you. My doc barely would take five minutes with me and always went to the extreme scenarios. Despite bleeding throughout most of my second trimester, I carried my daughter a week past her due date and she is now a perfectly healthy 7 month old chubster!

Smallish quantities of brownish blood -- the kind you can handle with a panty liner -- are perfectly normal, especially in early pregnancy.

If you have a gush of bright red blood, then it's time to call the doctor. What you're describing doesn't sound like something to worry about.

I bled with my first 2 pregnancies. My first I blew for 6 weeks straight the last half of my first trimester. It was scary but i was put on slight bed rest. The doctors told me in front of my husband that i couldnt do any housework, no sex, no exercise and light duty while at work. The doctors were unable to tell me why i was bleeding but the baby looked fine in the ultrasound. The doctors told me about 20% of women bleed during pregnancy. I didnt have any cramping though. I delivered a healthy baby boy.
Second pregnancy was ectopic and the bleeding was completely different. I had cramps and had a lot of bright red blood with clots.
Current pregnancy no blood at all. So if your bleeding but you have no to minor cramps and bc your not passing any clots or tissue, everything is good to go. Maybe rest and put your feet up to assist with decreasing the blood flow. Hang in there, I know its scary!!!

I bled like that around halloween (I'm 34 weeks now) and it turned out to be a small hemorrhage between the uterus and the sac the baby was in. It was caught on the ultrasound, though, and the bleeding stayed light and brown. They told me to call again if I was filling a pad and it was turning bright red. Thankfully it never did and it went away on it's own.

They did let me know that some bleeding was normal. The key was if you were filling a pad an hour and it was bright red, which didn't happen to me.

Yes, it's normal. I think I was right at 9 wks when I started spotting with my daughter. My dr said it was fluctuating hormones around the time frame. Congrats on your pregnancy!

I had bleeding right aroung 12 weeks during my first pregnancy. The doctor on call that Saturday morning asked me if I had cramping (no) asked if the sonogram earlier that week had shown a heart beat (it had) and suggested that it was probably the hormonal change that's not uncommon near the end of the 1st trimester.

My daughter was born super healthy and wonderful at the end of 9 months.

I bled like that. It turned out to be a polyp that was easily removed.
