Bleeding After a C-section

I had my second c-section 2 weeks ago and I am concerned about the amount of bleeding I am still having. The bleeding practically stopped and then 3 days ago it started again..just as heavy as the first day, and it hasn't let up. I did a lot of entertaining over the holidays (although it wasn't my intention) and I'm wondering if I over-did it. I can't remember if I had this same issue with my first c-section so I'm hoping someone can ease my mind and tell me it's normal...or should I call my doctor?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you to everyone for all of the advice and messages of concern! The day after posting my request my bleeding did lessen...but I called my doctor anyway. He advised that I probably over-did it and wanted me to take it easy for the next few days. If the bleeding became heavier again or I noticed large clots he wanted me to call him back. So I followed his advice and thankfully everything is OK...at this point I'm not bleeding at all anymore. Thanks again, moms!

Dear T.,
You should always call your doc with any concern you have.I have had two c-sections myself and you quite possibly could have over done it but you should give the doctor a call because bleeding heavily especially since you had already stopped can be a problem.I hope I helped

Hi T.,
From what my Dr told me earlier in the year when I had mine, it is normal. However, it also depends on the color of the blood and for how many days the color is. If it is bright red for more than 3 days I would call the Dr. Mine was but I still called and he said it was normal. It feels like forever until it stops mine lasted 5 weeks, but it wasn't heavy for the entire time. It did go away and I thought it was done but then like you it came back 3 days later. Good lock and don't hesitate to call your Dr if you are worried that is what we pay them for ;0)
Best wishes,
Christina

I always think it's better safe than sorry when it comes to bleeding after having a baby. Your doctor can always check you out and make sure everything is alright. You don't want to play around with that sort of thing.

Hi T.,

I bled for about 3-5 weeks after my c-section. It was never very heavy except in the early days. It is probably nothing, but since you were light and are now heavy and may have exerted yourself over the holidays - I would recommend getting checked by your Dr. It is better to be safe than sorry.

T.,

I think you should defintely call your doctor to double check. I think you probably did over do it over the holidays but you don't want to take an chances.

Let me know how you make out.

Sounds like you may have over done it. Relax and sit down. Take it easy and stay off your feet. If you have concerns, it would not hurt to call your doctor just to see what he/she thinks (just to be on the safe side). It has been 4 years since my c-section, but I seem to remember the doctor saying if I was soaking a lot of pads that it was not normal. Also, if I was having large clots to call.
Good luck and congrats on your new baby!

u prob over did it,, sit down, put ur feet up, rest. call the doc to be sure
