My daughter always has her hands in her nose or down her pants, tonight she started to complain when she was trying to go potty and tried several times before bed. I would almost say she has a bladder/UTI infection for sure. My question is how do you explain to a 4 year old that she is going to hurt herself if she dosnt keep her hands out of her pants.

What can I do next?

In addition to whatever else you decide to do, here are some suggestions:

-Try putting her in clothes that make it harder for her to get her hands in her pants (ie tighter jeans rather than loose, stretchy pants). That way if it is just a habit, she will be less likely to do it. Of course this will probably be harder to do with the warmer weather coming up!!

-Keep her hands busy with other activities.

-Every time you see her with her hands in her pants (or nose), send her to the bathroom to wash up. They usually get the point pretty quick because they get so tired of washing their hands.

Good Luck!

I wonder if she has a yeast infection and is itchy. This can move into the urinary tract, especially in girls. I'd take her to the doctor right away and not worry about what she's doing with her hands at this point. Calling attention to it may make it worse.

I guess I'd start with talking about germs & hand washing. To touch without washing first puts germs down there. I just told my daughter theirs a time and place for touching, she could have privet time in her room or in the tub.
Little girls are very prone to bladder/UTI infection our Doc said. I'm going to get crangel a tini gel cap of cranberry extract from the health food store. The juice is good, but has a lot of sugar = bad for infections and yeast.
My daughters almost always on the verge of a yeast infection. So we don't use HF corn syrup products, or even white sugar for anything. I bake w/ brown rice syrup or agave neuter and it doesn't get her all jazzed up like reg. sugar does. I'd suggest cutting back on simple carbs and eating more complex carbs like potatoes vers white bread.
Good luck, A. H

Common for girls this age, she may have her hands in her pants because it itches, or feel unconfertable already. My daughter has been on med for this for 16 yr. preventable low dossage bactrim. Everyday sence she was 2 yr. and the test's, terrible, worse than a mamagram. Hope she does not have a serious problem like my child, explain to her about her body, and how best to care for herself, no baths, no bubbles, wash get out & dry, that's a mother's job. Watch her behaivior, & fever. She is smart and will understand. Best of luck to you, and your family.
