Birthday Themes?!?

My baby's birthday is next month and I'm leaning towards a princess party, but I would like to know what else there is, because princess themes are done alot for little girls. So any different themes that are easy to put together and Whta was your child's 1st birthday theme, if there was one?! Thanks, I'm just curious what others did or liked for 1st birthdays!

What can I do next?

What about a 'theater / acting' theme? My daughter is in acting and loves to do plays and whatnot. She has a plethera of dress up costumes we purchased from THE THRIFT STORE! We have hats, gloves, purses, shoes, etc. to make up any role she wants to be.
I have gone so far as to purchase bridesmaid dresses and cocktail dresses that she wears when she's accepting her Academy Award for Best Actress (it's really hysterical).
Hope this helps...have fun!!!

My daughter turned 1 in March and we did a polka dot party. I found some cute invites on vistaprint.com and we kind of went along with that using the color scheme. It was really easy - we used solid colored plates, had a cake made with polka dots on it, made a cute little banner from ribbon and fabric. It's cute and different for little girls. If you'd like to see some pics, I'd be glad to send them. Just send me a message on her!

I ordered a kit from birthday in a box for my son's birthday back in January. I just did a polka dot them and had all the decorations in the same colors as the printed design. I had a couple of friends come over and we blew up almost 300 balloons. The kids (all ages) had fun playing in the balloons. It was like a giant ball pit. We didn't do games or anything, just let the little one play and have fun.

We did a Jungle Animals theme.
I have twin boys and we invited only our very close friends & their kids for their 1st birthday. It was more like a thank you to our friends for all their help and support.
The cake was a jungle with wild animals and so were all the table decorations. We had animals as window and room decorations.
Did small individual cakes for each of my twins, they dug in their fingers and had cake all over their faces --- great photo op!! We had a separate big theme cake for the guests. Lots of food and drinks.
We also did a game where we put about 8 items on a tray and let the birthday kid pick or touch one, thereby predicting his future career! Each item depicted a career focus (toy airplane for pilot, toy stethoscope for doctor, small calculator for accountant, dollar bill for businessman, paint brush for artist, etc)
We spent a lot of time & money on party favors ... they were more like 'thank-you-for-being-special-friends' gifts .... different items for all 50 guests, based on their age & individual interests, ranging anywhere from $15-80. They all also got chocolates with a customized wrapper .... I designed wrappers that had pics of both boys + all the info about weight, height on 1st birthday, and the story about their first year. All in all, it was the most memorable birthday, exciting time with our best friends. And I had a blast planning it for over 2 months!

We did a Hippo/tutu theme. I bought a big hippo and put a tutu on it. My daughter had a matching tutu. We had a hippo cake, and hippo cookies. I chose this theme because my daughter loved hippos. Try to choose something she likes. I think princess themes are great and you can do so much with them. I wanted to wait until my daughter understood dressing up like a princess, putting on make-up, ect..

Check out these two blogs they have tons of cute ideas. I love the ladybug party!

For my daughters second birthday, I did polka dots, flowers and cupcake theme. On the invites we said "Our little cupcake is turning 2!". For her cake I made a giant cupcake with the wilton mold, and decorated it with some necco candys for polka dots, and some cute silk flowers. Also made regular cupcakes and mini cupcakes for the guests. Turned out really cute. Would be glad to send some pics if interested.
