You can never go wrong with books or puzzles. Try www.lakeshorelearning.com. They have a great selection for her age group. My guess is that others will give toys of some kind.

Good luck

Around the time my daughter was 2, we got her a Step 2 Vanity, and she loves it. I put it near mine, and she has a blast. Another toy we got her was a dollhouse. The Caring Corners dollhouse is interactive - promoting sharing. She loves it! The pieces are bigger than some of the other dollhouses out there.

i had gotten my girls when they turned two a ball house. it's made of plastic, inflated and comes with a 100 balls. i remember costing 39 dollars through amazon.com they have spent hours playing in that thing, now they're almost five and when we moved to long island about 8 months ago we got rid of the thing because my twins wouldn't fit in there anymore. big mistake. they talk about it still and i will have to be on a hunt for a bigger one for their 5th birthday
leapster, handheld game is good too. maybe she's too young but you can get her started and with your help she should be able to use it. mine were also two when they started using the leapster.
good luck

Place & Trace, a set of 3 puzzles that double as cookie-cutters, gives a 2 year old a chance to bake cookies in cool dinosaur shapes and more. A First Book of Fairy Tales and a companion Little Red Riding Hood topsy-turvy doll are great, too. They can be found at www.toysofdiscovery.com

My niece just turned two and we bought her a bunch of dress-up clothes! I found some things at the dollar store, some at the toy store and some at consignment shops! I put it in a large plastic box decorated with "jewels" and her name- she loves it!

She also received sidewalk chalk and was in heaven!

My daughter loved all of the toddler baby toys from I think Mommy and me. They have little cribs and high chairs, swings, strollers, grocery carts and of course, babies. She is probably too young for little pet shop toys, but those are great as well.

My daughter is now 5 and the new craze for her is the American Girl doll and accessories. They are somewhat overpriced, but very good quality. I would wait until she is old enough to take good care of these dolls because of the price.

I hope that helps!

A tea set! Actually, anything with playfood and/or kitchen items. My girl absolutely LOVES these things AND she still gets hours of enjoyment from them ;-)

My daughter turned 2 in October. I bought her a kitchen set after seeing her play with one at all of her friends houses. She loves it!

My daughter turned 2 a couple of weeks ago. We bought her a tea set from Fisher Price. The teapot plays music or promotes manners (depends on the setting). She loves it!

You can go to fisherprice.com or amazon and you can shop by age group. Just never bring her to the toy store! You will regret it! My husband and I made that mistake with our little girl who was two at the time a couple of summers ago and she cried the whole time. She was overwhelmed and wanted it all!

My daughter turned 2 in March, here are some of her favorite gifts: mess free paint by crayola (I framed some of the art work for her room and she is so proud of it), playdoh with cookie cutters, Snap on Dolls by Fisher Price, Mr. Potatoe Head, zoo/museum membership, sidewalk chalk, bucket, shovels, rakes for outdoors. Also great outdoor toys on craigslist, they will be new to her for half the cost! Slides, sandboxes, play houses, etc.

a few other ideas- bath crayons, kitchen/food sets, picinic table(my daughter loves to eat at a "big table") I will think of more after I post this:-)

Congratulations!

Playhouses are the best for their imagination. Or dolls, costumes like princess, a dvd. Tea set.

Dear Rachel,

When my son turned two, my good friend of mine, who had a two-year-old as well, gave him a stroller for dolls or stuffed animals -- the size a 2-year-old can push. This was his absolute favorite present by a long shot. He literally lost interest in all his other presents as soon as that box was opened, and played with nothing else for about a month. My friend's son was the same way. This obviously works just as well for girls.

Happy birthday to your daughter!

Hi!
We got our girls (then 1.5 and 3.5) a Fisher Price Loving Family Dollhouse for Christmas thinking it would really be more for our older daughter for a while, but our younger daughter LOVES it- she'll sit for 20-30 minutes and play independantly. She's a little Mama and carries her baby dolls around with her everywhere, so if your daughter has a "mommy" personality, I'd highly reccommend a dollhouse!!

A few ideas that my daughter loved at two (she is about to turn 3):

A kitchen set - don't spend a lot - get some extra pots and pans, too.

Dress up outfits (Cosco has great ones and so does Lillian Vernon)

Puzzles - Melissa and Doug make great big floor puzzles - 4 in a box.

Outdoor water table

Tub toys

Have fun!!

Hi W.,

My son is turning 2 years old in June. :) How about a big wheel on seen them online at Toysrus. Or a sit and spin? Does she have a toddler bed maybe a nice comforter set. I just ordered my son the 18 months - 3 years old power motorcylce. Since I am only cutting a cake this year and not do my usual parties for the kids. I am taking them to SeSame Place for his birthday as well. I give big for Chirstmas and Birthdays because I refuse to give all year round. I want them to know these day are very special and enjoy them. To many kids are spoiled now a days. Good Luck! :)

Hi W.,
Gosh it seems like a long time ago, but at that age, my daughter loved her outdoor playhouse, dollhouse, doll cradle and carriage, outdoor riding toys, artist easel.
Good luck and happy birthday to your daughter! Mine will be 14 in June :)

We just got my son the Radio Flyer Steer and Stroll tricycle for his 2nd birthday. He LOVES it. My husband and I love it. I suggest it for your daughter b/c it comes in a really cute pink model that I would get if I had a daughter.
