Birthday Party Ideas for a 5 Year Old

My son's birthday is not until December, but I am trying to find the perfect place to have his birthday party. I'd like it to be indoors, because it will be winter and I'm always afraid of it raining. I have looked into Playtown in El Cajon but it's really pricey! So I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas or knows of any place similar to Playtown (preferably other than Chuck E Cheese or Peter Piper).

What can I do next?

There is a place out in Spring Valley called Airtime. It is a warehouse full of astro jumps. Lots of fun for kids of all ages, adults too!

I absolutely adore AirTime in Spring Valley. FUN!!! For adults and kids both.

Hi C.
My grandson has had 3 fabulous Birthday parties aboard the ships on the Embarcadero on the waterfront in downtown San Diego. The Surprise ship that was in Master and Commander movie and The Star of India and a Russian submarine. There is a woman pirate Anne Bonnie who runs the parties and is great with each of the guests, and it is so much fun for the kids. They dress up like pirates and take fun tours on the ships hoisting the sails, singing songs and really participate in the activities while learning something too. No clean up for you at home afterward. Several of my grandson's friends have also had parties aboard the ships. You would call the Maritime Museum and inquire.
Hope this helps, N.

Theres a few places if you want to have it indoors. If you dont mind doing all the decorating you can have it at a club house or a rec center and come up with a theame. Or if you want to do something else you can go get the san diego family magazine they have a bunch of stuff in there. But if you did have to choose between chuck e cheese and peter piper i would sugguest the one in rancho san diego, because its have the price and its allot cleaner too.

I think Shakey's in Grossmont Center is cool. It's still along the lines of Peter Piper, but I find there's more choices for the adults, which I think is nice. Good food and games for the kids.

If you want something more like Playtown, I suppose there's My Kids Clubhouse http://www.mykidsclubhouse.com/. It's an indoor playground setup with a little snack and drink counter and tables to set up at. They have rooms you can book too for the parties. Hope this helped some.

Try Cosmic Bowling at the Boardwalk in El Cajon. They can put up bumper lanes for small children. It is a fun party, they are very helpful there.

I suggest pump it up in Chula Vista or Sorrento Valley. It is $250 for 25 kids, and it is so fun! That is pricey but I have spent that much having one jumpy and food in my backyard and this is a huge warehouse full of jumpys. My son went to a party there and now is having his party there. It is indoors, and the parties are short, about 2 hours, an hour and a half jumping and a half and half hour eating and cake.
