My daughter will be turning 9 in May and I'm having a hard time of what would be fun to do either at our house or someplace else. I was thinking of doing a beading party but, I dont' know if I want to do that. So if anyone has any ideas that would be great to hear what they are.

Thank you,
Missy

I heard springbrook nature center has various types of parties they will do for you and they are pretty decent priced.

I think they have different ones you can do. I believe depending on the "theme" they cater for ages up to 11.

Here's a link I got for the site.

I've heard that Hotel parties at this age are a BLAST! Poolside are the best, and if the girls sleepover and get their own room (with joining parents room) is super fun for parents too. They can actually get some sleep and, the parent's can have a few people over too and entertain in their own room while the kids are in the other room.

Introduce the girls to some of the nighttime games we used to do, like "light As A Feather" etc. That keeps the girls busy all night long because of course, everyone has to take a turn.

what we do every year (the kids ask for it every year!) is have all 3 birthday's together since they are with in a month of each other (aug 4- sept 21). we have a huge party with 20+ kids at the park. we play the "old fashion" games. hot potato, musical chairs, tug of war, sack race, water balloon catch, egg race, bob for apples etc. we have a big tote of toys (cheaper ones from the dollar store) for the winners to choose from. all the kids have a blast and ask when we are doing it again. we go this route because it gets too expensive to do it other ways plus the kids really don't seem to tire of it because not too many people do these games anymore. we also don't allow any gifts from the friends because this is a time to celebrate with the friends and the kids learn that you don't need to recieve gifts in order to have a good time. in the past we have also had coloring contest for the different age groups and the kids get to pick the winner ( gives some down time while we get the food and cake ready) the winners got two prizes and then everyone else got to pick a prize for thier good job and hard effort. I hope you and the kids have fun with what ever you choose!!

Someone I know just did a "Make your own Pizza" party for her daughter who turned 9. She picked up aprons for each girl to decorate. I know Oriental Trading sells these as I'm sure other craft places do as well. She had all the fixings for the girls to make their own pizza. This can be done fairly cheap as you could use plain bagels, pizza sauce, cheese, and extra toppings you choose. They taste great too. Just bake for about 10-15 minutes (until cheese is melted and bubbly). They taste great. She also made cute little cookbooks on her computer with a few recipes to cook as well as non-food recipes such as playdough. It went really well. The girls also had a cupcake station where they could decorate their own cupcakes. I am going to do something like this next year for my daughter's 7th birthday party.

You could then do some games as well. Draw a huge piece of pizza and play pin the pepperoni on the pizza. I'm sure you could find some more games with this theme online.

Good luck.

I dont know where you live, but there is a hotel in Elk River that has a really neat water park in it. My niece just had her 8th birthday there and it was a lot of fun. They have waterslides a lazy river and like 3 or 4 other pools for the kids to play in. The room was neat to because it had a little living room with a tv and a bedroom for the parents and another room with bunk beds for the kids. She really had a lot of fun there.
