Birthday Party Ideas for 6 Yo Boy in Illinois

I am looking for some great (unique?) ideas for a 6 yo boy's bday party outside the home. In or around the cities of Buffalo grove, arilington heights, deerfield, vernon hills, wheeling areas. The birthday is in March, so anything outdoors is out of the question.
Was anyone thrilled with their party? Also, are you supposed to tip the person/people who provide the party? If so, how much?

I appreciate any and all responses!

What can I do next?

I work for the Glenview Park District at a nature center called The Grove. We have a variety of unique birthday parties. Kids can touch a turtle or a snake, find and identify insects, pretend to be a Native American or discover dinosaurs. Moms love it because our parties are fun and educational (and affordable). The website is www.thegroveglenview.org or you can call ###-###-#### to talk to a human! Sorry about the slow response, I was out of town.
Good luck!

MY GYM in Buffalo Grove. www.gotomygym.com. Always awesome! I did my son's last 4 parties there. He is turning 7 in February and that's the only place he insists on, so MY GYM it is! He liked Pump-it-Up when he was invited to someone else's party, but the kids get bored after the first 20-30 minutes.

It's not the cheapest place in town, so if that's what you are looking for - Pump-It-Up will probably save you $20-40 but you get what you pay for.

Oh, and we tip. Usually $20-30. It is never required, so if you feel they did an awesome job, tips are always appreciated.

Good luck!

Mad Science does a great Birthday party. They can come to your home or you can rent a room. Gary Cantor does an awesome magic show Birthday party. We have also done Pump It Up in Vernon Hills. Six year old boys love it there! Good luck!

Hi C.,
My name is M. and I am the owner of Have A Bashery, a unique children's party business that specializes in creating special memories for children through spectacular celebrations. We can come to your home or, if you prefer, a park district room, restaurant, community center, or do I have some space suggestions in the areas you mentioned. We conduct theme parties and I think my favorites for 6 year old boys are: Fluff-N-stuff Parties (boys like the dinosaurs), Olympics, Construction, and Pirate Parties. Please check out my website www.haveabashery.com to see options - maybe we can help!
Thanks,
M. Fortnow

Check out www.kidwinks.com. There's a link on the home page (front and center) for birthday party ideas. Click there, and you'll get a list of about 130 places that hold kids birthday parties in the Chicago area. Become a kidwinks member, which is free, and you can then sort that list in order of distance from your house. There's also an Events Calendar if you're looking for things to do, and a Kids Eat Free Calendar in the Restaurants section - just click on a day and find out where kids eat free or cheaply on that day.
