Birthday Party Ideas for 5 Year Old Boy

My son's 5th birthday is in December. I already booked his b-day party at Lifetime Fitness in Flower Mound (in the gym). Thankfully, I didn't pay the deposit yet, because my friend's son's party was just there and it was horrible! So now I am starting over. I don't want my son's party to be at a bouncehouse place or a gymnastics place (his party was at Excite Gym in F.M. last year and it was amazing, but we would rather have it at a different place this year). Do any of you have any unique or different ideas? We live in Flower Mound. Thanks! M.

What can I do next?

I recently met a mom of a 5yo boy and she booked his birthday party at a Fire Station. It's free and fun. They have a place there for you to have food (which you provide). You do have to call and book ahead, though. Try different ones around you.

You have gotten a lot of great ideas here. I think the HEard museum is a great place to have a party. Last year we did the Dinosaurs alive exibit party for our son and we had a party room a host and took the tour and it was a real fun party everyone really had a great time. plus the host brings 2 animals to the party and tells the kids about them. My son chose a rabbit and a snake and the kids thought they were cool.

it was origonal and the kids had a blast we brought pizza and had cake and had a great time!

We host parties at Meadowmere Park on Lake Grapevine - our home away from home during the summer and spring break - www.AdventureDayCamps.com - or we can come to you. We offer outdoor activities such as archery, an obstacle course, scavenger hunt, games, and more! We can pick activities your child will enjoy the most with his friends. I can be reached at ###-###-####.

We can also help with campouts if interested in that.

I do stuff-an-animal parties which are so fun for kids. They get to stuff their own cuddly animal and take it home! You don't have to worry about entertaining the kids or buying favors or games. You can check out my site at: www.EverAfterParties.com and click on the Noah's Ark Animal Workshop in the second column.

I bring all of the animals, stuffing for the kids to stuff their own animal friend, take-home bag, a gift for the birthday child and their new animal, wishing star that goes inside their animal and keeps their wish safe :), birth certificates for the kids' new friends, and provide activities/games for the kids as part of the entertainment.

The kids really love picking out their new animal friends! And they LOVE playing with them afterward. My favorite part is the Wishing Ceremony, where they make a wish and stuff it inside their animal. It is such a beautiful sight to see all the kids making their wishes!

we're wavering from the camping idea to just booking mcdonald's. the kicker will be how original can i get with the camping idea. i think the kids would love it!

We rented a room at a local rec center and hired Darth Vader to appear at our son's 7th birthday. It was a Star Wars birthday and the kids went crazy when Darth Vader walked in thru fog (from a fog machine he brought) with theme music playing. Had a light saber duel with birthday boy. It was great!

My son's birthday is also in December. Thanksgiving week is avery hard time to have a party unless you know for sure that his friends are not going to be off visiting relatives. As for the weather...this is Texas! It can be sunny and warm or bitterly cold with rain. Reserve the bounce house but have a back up plan, ask about their cancelation policy if the weather is bad. Many kids have never had the parties like we did when we were kids. Give them a treat, you can do egg on a spoon races, make stilts out of coffee cans and race them in the garage, make room in the garage for a pinata, send them on a scavenger hunt, make a turkey craft, check out family fun magazine website for ideas.
Some years we have not celebrated our December birthday in lue of a 1/2 birthday party in June.

For my five year old son's birthday this past February, we went "camping." He had been asking for a sleep over/camping with friends, so we did just that. He invited 5 friends and we "camped" in our playroom... small tent up and all.

The kids came and stayed from 5-8 pm. They arrived in their pjs, and brought sleeping bags and we watched Diego movie, made binnoculars, had dinner and cake. This was the first drop-off party we had and it gave the parents a chance for dinner out minus one child. ;o)

Good luck - PS: we had the best cake from Dolce Vita Cakes (www.dolcecvitacakes.com) - it was a bear roasting marshmellows over a campfire! We loved it!!1
