I know that it is pretty tough to come up with great games to play with kids of varying ages, especially when it is so hot. We can help.

My husband and I are professional clowns living in Anna. We offer party games, facepainting, balloon sculptures, friendship bracelets, magic, comedy along with fun interaction with your guests. We've entertained at birthday parties and large events like the Plano Balloon Festival.

Our prices are very reasonable (we have four great kids of our own so we know how expensive things can get)and we do our best to work within a person's buget.

Get round sugar cookies and buy frosting and lots of wet wipes. Have them frost and design a beach ball (or basketball, or volleyball). That's a fun, messy project that you can do inside to get a break from the heat. It's also a good lead up to opening gifts because everyone is in one spot.

The younger ones including your soon might enjoy bottle bowling! But some m&ms in bottles to make them rattle and arrang them as pins to roll a ball at!

A blow up pool ring or hula hoop hanging from the tree to throw a football or those big air balls (like in the cages at Walmart) through.
An obstacle course.. little ones lead blind folded older ones through it (can have a box of candy at the end that the little one instructs the older one to reach into and grab 2 pieces (1 for each of them, for completing the course). You can use small stools to step up on and down, blow up innertubes to step through, cones to weave through, a box open on both ends to crawl through, a ball to pick up and place into a box, etc.
Frog races: set up a start and stop point, kids have to frog hop to the other end. Give plastic frogs from dollar store as pizes if you want.
Get two ladels (sp) and have one kid size bucket at each end, the start end has water in the bucket, kids have to take water in their ladel and slowly get to the other end and put in the end bucket. The team to fill their bucket first is the winner. Give bucket and shovel (like the combo's you can buy at the Dollar Tree) to the winning team. May want to do best out of 3 games.
Just saw your post for the freeze dance, great idea! You could use sports themed music, like the stuff they play at the football games to get everyone excited (who let the dogs out, Let's get this party started,etc!) There are also cd's that have Kids music, it's KidzBop and Walmart and Target carry them.

Big hit in my music classroom - freeze dance. Kind of like musical chairs, but without the chair drama! Little ones won't be able to freeze well, so it would be just for fun for them.

With the them being sports there are lots of things you can do. You can do foot races. You can buy one of those tire floats and buy nerf footballs for the kids to throw thru the tire. You can get the soft bat and ball and let the kiddos take turns batting.. If any of your friends or family have the little tykes basketball goals you can borrow a few and set them up for the kids to play baskbetll and you can put a group at each game and then blow the whistle for them to rotate until everyone has played each game. Hope this helps..

I've hosted LOTS of birthday parties, and hands down the best games are not games at all. Just have bubbles to blow or sidewalk chalk to draw with, or have a soccer ball and some cones to dribble around. A lot of times, the games I tried to run were stressful for me to organize, or someone was yelling "HE's CHEATING!!!" or the losing team gets really upset, whatever. Especially since you have such a wide range of ages, I think it would be fun to just have regular fun stuff to play. Another fun idea is to have kids blindfolded, sit in a chair (or stand) and try to draw something on a paper that is taped on the wall in front of them... it can be "draw a face on a soccer player" or I've even seen people do "add one element to this house" like windows, doors, tree, chimney, etc but all while blindfolded and each person takes a turn adding one element.
