My twin girls are turning 8 next month and they want a birthday party at home. The only question I have is what do I do with 20 kids who are all between the ages of 5 and up?? I already know how to do goody bags, but what about the rest of the day? I was planning on having the party in my finished basement because I have the girls play room already set up downstairs. If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate the support and help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to all of the wonderful moms who responded to my question. The party went very well. I went to my local Hobby Lobby and picked up Plaster of Paris and had all the kids make molds of their hands in pie tins. I then bought a box of crafts that you could make people with. They had boy figures and girl figures. I had 15 children and I had 8 girls and 7 boys, so the mold and the child figures went very well with a mixed crowd. Thanks for all of the websites regarding birthday ideas. I sent them all to my mom friends whose kids birthdays will be coming up soon.
I really appreciated the time that everyone took to help me make my twin girls birthday party a success. OH, I also did goody bags with spider rings, high school musical tattoos, star wars tattoos, stickers, etc. I put no candy in the bags due to halloween being so close. They were a hit!!!!
Thanks again,
C.

You could have Noahs Ark or Bella Bee party for the girls. The crew member comes to your house, the workshop lasts about an hour, a 2 hour party, 1hr spent with the workshop lady, the other hour having cake and opening gifts. Virtually nothing for the mom to do, virtually no clean up.

Lots of free gifts for the birthday children.

Check out www.arkparties.com for more info.

Check out "A Zoo To You" they will bring a baby zoo to your home along with a fence and food for the animals. This is a family business w/ very healthy animals. The package also includes a pony w/ someone to assist the kids on rides the whole time. It is very affordable - and for favors I went online and order animal crackers in bulk. I put them in a basket with a sign that thanked everyone for coming to the party . I think I had 100 bags - but I used the rest for halloween giveaways for the little ones. Here is the website for the zoo - goodluck. http://www.azty.net/

When my daughter was 7 (her golden birthday!) I took 20 kids to Build a bear and they all made a bear. The best part was afterward, we caravaned back to my house where I had hired a few local teen to help the girls paint T shirts for themselves and their bears. We also made necklaces and bracelets for themselves and their bears. I ordered pizza and had cake. Everyone had a blast and had a lasting memento of the party. If you don't want to do the driving - find a local Noah's Ark representative and they will do the animal making at your home.

I have also done a beauty party. I asked moms if they would be "manicurists" and "pedicurists" to do the girls. Also, I had 2 moms who did hair and they did updos for the girls and 2 other moms did makeup. Afterward, we did a fashion show with me at the end of the "catwalk" taking digital pictures of each of them that I sent home with them. The girls brought a nice outfit with them that they could wear for the fashion show. Afterward, we went out to a local restaurant (Beggars for pizza) because we were all dressed up and needed somewhere to go. The kids had a blast!

Good luck and don't be afraid to ask for help from the other guests parents.

Rent a moon jump. It will keep the kids occupied for hours on end. Kids of all ages love them!!!! Shop around for good prices, though. Our motto is we will beat the lowest price by 10 bucks so you can get them very reasonable. Make sure they are new, clean and have an inflatable step for the kids to climb into the jump with. Some places use a step stool or ladder for gets to climb in with and that is extremely dangerous!!

Water games are also a big hit if warm enough.

It depends on your budget but there are so many places out there to have people do the party for you. Costumed characters might not be fun for 8 year olds but there are people that do princess parties or anything they are into. There are probably many games online you can look up. If they can decide on a theme for the party you can go from there.

Let them take part in the planning. Ask for ideas. What girls are into now? all that stuff. I have 3 boys and they ask if they can help. So, just a thought. This will make the process fun for both of your daughters and yourself. Maybe going to a pottery place to decorate pottery to bring home. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck.

Since they are young, that can be simple. I find that a clown is usually a big hit at children parties. After that, get some games that they can play. Who ever wins, gets a prize. We usually go to the dollar store and get inexpensive gifts for girls. Kids love this type of thing. The games take up some time and before you know it, the parties over and they kids have had a blast!

Birthday Parties are fun as long as the kids have something to do for the entire time otherwise they find their own things to do which you may not like. The present opening and cake time take up to an hour so if you have a 2 hour party, all you need is to fill one hour. Little girls seem to really like crafts of all sorts. www.familyfun.go.com has lots of custom ideas for age appropriate games, crafts and lovely print outs all for free. They even have great party recipes; cakes, punch, decorations and more! It's a great source for planning any get together.

Have a wonderful time and enjoy the party!

How about a little beauty shop, you can have your 16 yr. old help out and do manicures and (very light) make-up. You can also have all the girls come dressed up like princesses and have a tea party with little finger sandwiches. My friend did a party like this and it was a big hit. They also let the girls decorate picture frames with those foam stickers and took pictures of the girls in their dresses to take home with them.
Have fun!!!
