Ok moms, I need some ideas for my DS who turns 17. He wants to do something "different" for his birthday and I am left clueless as to what to do for him. He doesn't seem thrilled about going out to dinner or staying home. Need some ideas for something fun to do with him in the Flint, or Fenton or Brighton area!!!!! Help!!!

What can I do next?

Start with his personal interests & work from there. How about a concert with his friends? Or a baseball game? A night out at the movies/video arcade? At 17, it's all about the friends & going out....not "with the parents". :)

Baseball game with buddies (minor league or major) - what is he into...some type of sporting event (car racing, wrestling) or music concert (see what is playing near yoru area). Let him bring a friend or two to something that he would think is fun.

If you ain't get any clue, try asking his friends. Maybe they have good ideas. Another option is to work it out based from his interests and hobbies.

I don't know what's in your area, but rock climbing walls might be fun.

We found a not skeevy pool hall for SS when he turned 17 and rented 3 tables and ordered a spread of munchies (soda, wings, chips, etc.) His friends came and went and played pool during a 3 hour timeframe.

He might also like attending a concert, going to a theme park or other area of interest.

My SS has also gathered a bunch of TVs, a couple of routers, every chair in the house, and about 16 friends to play networked video games. All we had to do was throw food at them periodically.

Paintball or laser tag might also be fun for him.
